week - Should be spelled weak.
Buckeyes should be a solid #2.
Load of crap.
Half the other teams in the nation had a victory last week. Why put boise up there?
Many of the teams Boise is above will have 6-8 big games this year and will have to win them all to have a shot. Why is it that Boise wins one big game and suddenly they’re worthy of a shot?
Boise is good for sure - but how good? We’ll not know unless they play 6-8 of their games in the same environment - like the pac10, ACC, SEC or even Big “12” and Big “10”.
One big game victory and that’s it? How about Georgia - they have an SEC schedule FULL of big games against quality opponents - not just one. How about Florida? Georgia Tech? LSU? Alabama? Texas? FSU? Hell the list goes on. Those teams all have half a dozen big games they’ll have to win to have a shot. Boise? Just one - an argument can be made for two - but it’s still just two. BS.
It is bs to put a one-game winner at #1. Oregon is a future opponent but that’s pretty much it for opposition.
BS
Dacula, you ment to write “HAWKeyes” should be #2. You’re welcome helping you with that correction.
And it’s “weak” not “week”.
Geez....
Correction - Boise State has one semi-quality opponent left on their schedule. The rest of the season they’ll be hanging out at the local bakery gorging themselves on cupcakes.
Wasn't BSU's schedule-strength somewhere in the 90s (out of 112 teams) last year? Is it higher this year? Maybe in the 70s or 80s? Maybe NCAA football needs something like the NIT Basketball Tournament (A special championship for the teams who don't really play in the big leagues.)
Point taken.
It’s always hard to tell this early who the real deals are. Fresno State could be a quality opponent, as could Nevada. Other than Oregon State and maybe Wyoming, I don’t see anyone else who can even be a weak challenge.
Boise had 17 points GIVEN to them on freak turnovers by the a lower ranked team and that qualifies them to be #1...????
They may play ONE MORE ranked them the entire year...they play in a weak sister conference...they would NOT survive an SEC or PAC-10 conference schedule.
Blah blah, blah blah, blah blah blah.
SEC is the toughest. Roll Tide
Boise had their referee pals helping them at the end. I thought old Musburger was gonna wet himself.
Roll Tide!!!
I’d love to c bama play bs. I don’t think they deserve no 1 if there r other indefeated teams outthere. But well see.
#9 and # 10 should be reversed.
Hawwwwwkeyes.
(Like Hayden Fry said it)
Boise State is always fun to watch!
bigjoesaddle - Thanks for the laugh. I needed that chuckle to start my day.
I’ll see in November when we use the hawkeyes to get practice before we play michigan. :)
I'm a big BSU fan, and I think they are ranked higher than they should be. Do they deserve #1, no.
Boise State took advantage of a fumble for 3 poinst and a blocked punt for 7. But the next 7 points came from a 78-yard drive. Both teams capitalized on mistakes by the other. VT recovered two fumbles and took advantage of both with touchdowns - that's 14 to 3 with respect to turnovers. Blocking a punt isn't exactly a "given" situation, and VT blocked a PAT by BSU. Also, BSU handed VT a big boost with a key roughing-the-kicker call that went from BSU taking over on downs after a missed field goal by VT to VT scoring a TD.
Boise State had 18 first downs to VT's 21. BSU had 383 total yards on offense to 314 by VT (BSU had more in both passing and rushing than did VT). BSU was penalized 11 times for 105 yards to VT's 7 times for 55 yards.
BSU went 6-15 on 3rd down conversions to VT's 4-12. VT also went 1-2 on 4th down converstions. VT had the ball for 34:20 to BSU's 25:40. In all, it was a good game with plenty of mistakes by both teams.
The game was not handed to BSU.
Florida shouldn’t even be in the Top 20, pains me to say.
