FEMALE lawyers are being ordered to take off their bras for prison visits to clients because they set off the metal detectors. Strict search rules at Hasselt prison, Belgium, say nobody is allowed through security if they trigger the alarm.
But under-wiring and clasps are enough to set off the new system.
Barrister Joseph Rowies said: "The alarm goes off rather easily and prison staff apply the rules to the letter, so there is sometimes no alternative for women but to enter the prison without support."
According to a statement from the Directorate General of Corrections, the scanners have already been tested, with no faults found.
He said: "Those who set off the device cannot enter. Those are the rules."
Now prison officials are meeting to discuss the storm in a DD cup after complaints from some female lawyers
Wasn’t there a similar incident involving a female lawyer and her bra about 2 or 3 months ago?
This happens here in the US, also.
I know of an attorney who had to remove her bra. She did so, but then was refused admission to the jail to see her client because she was now dressed “provocatively”.
No big deal. Cooperate with security.
There are plenty of undergarments with plastic, rather than metal, supports, or even no underwiring at all.
Of course, those with artificial joints will still get a pat-down. Can’t very well leave those at home.
this is a joke, right?
They make pullover sports bras that have no hooks or metal or plastic or anything. They even make them in the sizes that more busty ladies like me wear. They aren’t the eastiest thing to get on nor the most flattering to the figure, but they’ll get you through the security system.
Inmages make weapons out of anything they can get their hands on. The underwire used in a bra would make a small, flexable razor, easily hidden almost anywhere and very lethal.
A lawyer could easily smuggle in the raw materials (or finished product) in her bra, pass it to an immate and leave with no one being the wiser.
Spandex sports bras mean never having to say “ooops!” at the metal detector.

LOL - That’s funny! :D
TTIWWP....
I mean, how are we to judge?
Did you hear the one about the female dyslexic lawyer who couldn’t pass her bra exam?
Yep, I was wondering when someone would want pictures to judge the situation.
Sort of a good news/bad news piece, depending on the lawyer.
>They arent the eastiest thing to get on nor the most flattering to the figure, but theyll get you through the security system.
I’ll take your word for it.
I’m glad I’m a guy and don’t have to be concerned with anything more complex than a button-up shirt (and occasionally *gasp* a tie).
has anyone seen what female lawyers generally look like these days? anti-viagra.
If you read the article, the clasps also set off the alarm. There is no alternative to metal eye and hooks.
Oh bull paddies, LOL~
I have my sternum wired together after a bypass operation. Sometimes it will set off a scanner.
And no, I’m not removing the wire for courthouse or TSA scanners.
What if a lawyer has a hip or knee replacement? Tear it out?
I think that I’d pass too.
i want the job of verifying bra-lessness
Heh. They can’t keep drugs out of jails, but they can keep out bras.
Your tax dollars at work.
NOT GUILTY, but still needs a pat down.
I think the idea would flop (ahem)

Sue Elle Mishke PING!
I’ve had the buttons for suspenders on my jeans set off the detector at the airport. What a pain, since the security monkey wouldn’t let me go even after proving to himself and everyone else that it was the buttons.
Rules iz rules, ya know...
Sure there is. You must be a guy.
No I'm not. Sports bras are uncomfortable and dress clothes don't fit correctly with one.
Sorry. Should have checked your page before shooting off my mouth.
I don’t particularly like sports bras, either, but then I’m not a lawyer going through tight security. Guess those gals will just have to adapt.
Frankly, dressing appropriately when you know you’re going to have to go through security just makes sense, saves time and money. I don’t understand people who wear complicated shoes to the airport, then grouse and take forever to take them off and put them back on.
Don't worry about. :-)
Most women lawyers wear suits and tailored blouses that have tucks in the chest area for regular bras. Clothes just won't fit right with sports bras. Maybe they should show up in sweats. lol
