“all you need is a way to convert the IP addresses in the Linksys/CISCO report into names.”

True. The native server log built in to the router gives me the .1010, .102 etc IP addresses of each PC and the IP address of the site visited (outbound) but not the time. harrumph. Plus I want the software to do the work of converting IP addresses to domains. (I’ll pay for that convenience).

FWIW the Cisco/Linksys site lists the availability of an enhanced logging/viewing tool, but returns a 404 when I click on the link ...

On the Network Magic Pro page look under the “Key Features” menu and select “Monitor and Control.”

Me: If you don't need a report that tells which machine on your network made each web visit, then all you need is a way to convert the IP addresses in the Linksys/CISCO report into names.

Come to think of it, a report from your router will probably contain internal machine identities. Wallwatcher takes activity information provided by the router (if the router does such). It looks like just what you want. As for ending support, that just means the author or company is planning to "move on." If the software does what you want, you don't care about "improvements and support."

Not to keep “barking up the wrong tree,” but I was going to try to find a pic of an “Urdu logger” or an “Ur logger.” Didn’t think I’d find a logger from the land of Url though.

OK, downloaded and installed. Looks like I need to install for each PC???? reports come to me via email???

May be a bad UI, but so far not looking like what I want.

I’ll report back.

OK more user feedback.

(1) I need to install Network Magic on EACH CLIENT PC. I just want something that monitors the router, records outbound activity (urls visited), and displays them sorted by PC and time.

(2) you don’t HAVE to get reports via emails, but the online reports of activity are batched from the day before ...

So far not what I REALLY want.

Also it is now reporting an alert that *my* PC doesn’t have a firewall, virus protection or malware protection installed. In fact it does.

This has a pretty interface, but so far is a NO GO.

Sorry, I can’t help you. I was just looking to see if it was something I could use, but I didn’t check it out.
I passed the info on to you because I thought it would give you the info you sought.

I uninstalled Network Magic Pro.

(1) doesn’t do what I want the way I want it.

(2) uninstalled without requiring the passphrase!

Still looking, but thanks.

All righty then. I successfully installed wallwatcher, and configured it for my router.

BUT ...

I launched it, it runs in the background, and I can’t figger out how to get it back ‘open’ in the foreground.

Geesh. Gonna HAVE to read the README file ...

Look at Link Logger and see if it'll fit your situation.

Note: I highly recommend dd-wrt as your router firmware. It will allow access to many more features on your router--if it is compatible with it.

OK, I can restore it from the system tray icon.

So far so good.

Dead in my tracks.

WW can ping the router, but I am not getting any activity into the log, which means the router is not config’d to send infor to this PC.

Great.

Now I have to figure THAT out!

Ideas?

p.s. the software looks like a perfect match so far.
