What was your story that brought you here to this site.
Gary Condit, aka the summer before 9-11.
State X State Polling #s for 2000.
It was court ordered as part of my probation agreement.
Drudge Report back in the Clinton era..
Rush Limbaugh mentioned it once years ago.
I really don’t remember how I heard of it or when but I just lurked for a long time before registering.
I just kinda wandered in and never left.
I survived a first post vanity and apparently dad let them keep me.
Battling liberals and liberally biased moderators on the forums at Space.com. After getting fed up with the situation, I found FR and lurked for a couple of years before jumping in and participating.
During Bush/Gore campaign of 2000
Wow. I remember that 24/7 Gary Condit, sadly I was convinced he had something to do with it. What is he doing now?
My beloved older brother, who is not to be sneezed at when it comes to “being in the know.”
Nov 2001 wow. I must have found this place after 9/11 I wanted as much news and info as I could get on the GWOT.
Whitewater, and the weird behavior of the media who apparently didn’t care. And the ability to write something about it and post it to the world without some editorial board sitting on it. God bless Free Republic.
Trixie & Linda Tripp
I always wanted to be called a newbie over and over.
It’s a link on my favorites. It’s been that way since July 1998
Happened upon it while searching for something else. Lurked, then signed up around the time of the 2000 election. Still remember those days. I still lurk quite a bit, but don’t post that much. Sometimes, it gets a bit much and I take a break. But, I always come back!
The elections of 2004.
As a George Bush Democrat, it was his first State of the Union address. I was transformed and I’ve never looked back.
looked to see if there was an any conservative websites to talk on as it seemed loads of liberal ones were around
People who love America and think like I do.
I honestly can’t remember anymore...it was before 2000 though.
“All great truths begin as blasphemies.” George Bernard Shaw
It was the Whitewater link on the Drudge Report.
As a lurker at least....
I've been here ever since.
Not what, but who! My mommy did.
The Lewinsky affair for me...
I was listening to Michael Savage on the radio.
It was right after the 2000 Bush-Gore election. I was steamed to say the least. I couldn’t believe the liberals were trying to steal it.
A caller called in and mentioned FreeRepublic. Savage said something about the good work going on at FreeRepublic.
I checked out the site and fell in love.
Two days later I was protesting with other FReepers down Market Street in San Fran.
Never heard of it...
Listening to Doug from Upland on George Putnam’s Talk Back show in the late 90’s.
Vince Foster...and Alamo-Girl...
Clinton’s impeachment. Came here through Drudge. Was a long time lurker and signed up officially the day after 9/11. Left for a brief time during the heated infighting that went on here during the Republican presidential primaries. Couldn’t stay away.
Yeah, Rathergate! and the Elections of 2004
Dan Rather’s phony documents.
After unpacking and setting it up, (Oh yeah .. they gave you neat pictures what plugs in where, but ... THEN what ?) ... I had no clue what to do and for the first time since high school daze ... I was seeking information and acting on what I learned.
My fear of typing 'sex' or 'pornography' into the search engine (netscape? .. I forget), but craving the jolt of massive information, I typed in "free"
I guess it was google, I don't know, but a ton of things came up and I think FreeRepublic was around the second page.
My screen name is the result of my clevirity and quick thinking (because when I signed up, I didn't know if I had a time limit to sit and think ... so knarf is my name backwards.
(or would that be ?sdrawkcab eman ym)
Setting up for a ProtestWarrior protest at UW-Madison in late November of 2004. I was going to protest Joel Geier.
Here is the original thread...
DRUDGE REPORT BROUGHT ME THE FIRST YEAR OR SHORTLY THEREAFTER, IIRC.
You joined just one day before I did!
Also the Drudge Report link back in the Clinton Era.
The Clintoon Circus.
Well, you see, there was this bag of jelly beans, and a horse with three legs...
I was trying to find out who to vote for before the 2008 election.
I didn’t want to be a stupid voter, the likes of which gave us Lord Zero.
I knew MSM was lying to us.
Also, it felt pretty good to be in a place where I don’t feel like a freak for leaning hard right.
FR is not just politics.
If I want to know about anything at all, I usually check here first because so many FReepers are so knowledgeable.
This place is a gold mine of information.
