What brought you to Free Republic?

November 7, 2000: Election night. I had been lurking around FR for a few months and was watching the returns coming in. The race was incredibly tight of course, and I was nervously considering what the country would be like under a President Gore. The tension was brutal and the scotch was not working its usual magic.

As I read some of the election threads I decided I had to join the fray, to commiserate and hope to God along with the rest of you that Algore would retired to Tennessee. So, I signed up and now, almost ten years have flown by. Little could we imagine then that far worse than Algore awaited us.

I lurked for months before registering. What made me finally register was wanting to meet up with some Tokyo Freepers when I went to Tokyo for business.

She's still in ICU over two months now. The dialysis has actually helped her breathing so for the first time she is sitting up and watching TV. The heart is doing very well, the lungs are still not quite there.

I found FR on Drudge during the Dan Rather Memos. I lurked a bit and signed up. Mostly just lurk and occasionally post a comment. I check in several times a day to see what’s going on. Like others, when FR is down, the jitters start. I feel like this place is part of my family.
