I live in San Francisco, and I think you all know what that implies. I am a dyed-in-the-wool liberal and nearly everyone I interact with daily is as well. I read Free Republic most days to try to understand why Obamacare is so hated, and why the Ground Zero Mosque is taking such flak. And to be honest, I understand most of the viewpoints here. I don't agree, but I understand. The only one I don't understand is the very, very strong opposition to illegal immigration. Is it strictly a legal opposition? Workers that flaunt our laws at the border are likely to flaunt others? Or are there other reasons? I promise not to post again... so the zotting is a foregone response. I am just very interested in exactly why you feel that illegal immigration is so wrong.

Let hundreds or thousands of illegals enter your house.
After they are done, look at what you have left.
That is, if you haven’t been raped and murdered beforehand.

It is very immoral.
It is a form of slavery....the advantage is primarily to the employer as it relieves him of the obligation to pay social security, medicare and workman’s compensation on the illegal employee.
This has two consequences
It permits the exploitation of the employee..denying them the basic protections granted American citizens under employment and civil rights law.
It dilutes the integrity of that law for legal employees. Ultimately it weakens our institutions which then benefits principally the employer, who can then take advantage of the American employee.
It occurs because we have a fascist government.

Given your comments of being liberal and associating with mostly liberal friends I would doubt you would even understand if given logical answers. If you believe that breaking the laws of this country is ok how can any logical discussion follow? Just admit that you have a point of view and no amount of truth will change it and leave it at that?

And since you live in th ever so enlightended city of SF, I', suuuuure have have access to a dictionary. Look up the word. Or to again aide you in your quest for knowledge, here's the definition from an actual dictionary:

Illegal, unlawful, illegitimate, illicit, criminal can all describe actions not in accord with law.
And not to shock you but entering the USA is just their first criminal act once on USA soil. From there we go to theft of Identification, as in using someone else's Social Security Card number on a 'phony SS card' they bought. And that leads to other Criminal Acts of Fraud like Bank, Mail, and Wire Fraud. And more than likely some type of Welfare FRAUD. And then further committing an act of Fraud when they obtain a 'legal' DL with those phony IDs the ILLEGAL ALIEN purchased.
Here's the kicker, its really a belly laugher.
If a US Citizen committed all those acts of FRAUD, which just happen to be FELONIES, he'd be looking at about FIFTY YEARS max in PRISON - Ten years for each count of Fraud. But Pancho gets off without even a slap on the wrist. At the most he gets a plane ride 'home'. After all he didn't like, Murder anyone. Well, except in that one Drunken Crash where he killed a family of five, but hey, that can happen to any drunk.See I told you it was a Belly Laugher!

The vast majority of illegals have no interest in getting here to be American. They refuse to assimilate, learn the language, follow the rules. And when you see images of them rallying around the country it is infuriating, as though they are just poking their thumb in our collective eye, knowing they can ignore the law and we won't do anything about it.
I have a very dear friend who is Vietnamese. He followed the law, immigrated thirty years ago, built a business, and slowly began the process of bringing his family over, one at a time.
He is a fantastic guy who loves his heritage, but he is VERY PROUD to be an American.
That is the difference. He did it the right way because he wanted to be a part of this country, not take advantage of us. So many follow the law, why does your side want to excuse those who don't?
1. Crime. Illegal aliens commit crimes far out of proportion to their numbers.
2. Welfare state. Illegals use up services that should be reserved for legal residents. They don't pay their medical bills and use ERs as primary care physicians. You can't have a welfare state and open borders. I'd prefer to end the welfare state, but that doesn't seem to be an option.
3. Wages. Illegal aliens depress wages for everybody.
4. Jobs. Illegal aliens take jobs that should go to legal residents. Many of these jobs would go to teenagers or are entry level jobs that would allow legal residents to work their way up.
5. Vote fraud. At least one election has been won based on fraudulent votes cast by illegal aliens.
6. National Security. Illegal aliens have no allegiance to this country.
That isn't a complete list by any means, but its enough to justify rounding them up sending them home.
It runs in cycles...Lately Most of them has been a lame attempt at Race baiting, Homophobia...etc...

Definitely an uptick in troll activity. The coming elections are bringing them out from under their bridges.
