I’m surprised we’re #4, we certainly haven’t played like a #4 team up to this point.

The computers love the Gators with the 3rd highest rating after ‘Bama and UT.

UT #2? Seriously? Even as a UT fan, I totally disagree.

Granted if (big ‘if’) we beat Bama, then everything takes care of itself.

I’m just worried about Kentucky this week.

Guess this is why this is just a “simulation”.

UT is ranked far too high, Nebraska far too low.

Yeah, I love my ‘Horns but after that slopfest Saturday I wouldn’t give em #2. Maybe not even top 10, as poorly as they played.

But as one joker put it, “Wins are like babies... they’re never ugly when they’re yours!”

“UT #2? Seriously? Even as a UT fan, I totally disagree.”

Why? undefeated this year and coming off a #2 ranking last year.

Could it be the computers like the last 12 winning seasons posted by Brown (13,12,10,10,13,11,10,11,11,9,9,9)?

The Hokies finally got in the win column on Saturday but they have a huge test coming up this week when they travel to Boston College.

Neither of their 2 losses were to ACC teams so there is still hope for them to win the ACC title.

They barely lost to Boise State in the opening game and their lost to JMU was a fluke. Hopefully, the Hokies are back to stay.

Go Hokies!

Oklahoma number 5? They really like the Sooners this year, the only thing they have proved so far is that they’re inconsistent.

I hope the OU team that showed up against Florida State shows up for Texas too.

That’s just how Ohio State fans are referred to by people who have experienced them. On that note, one of the best things to ever grace the internet:

http://deadspin.com/5632853/deadspin-classic-the-most-brilliant-thing-youll-see-all-day

“...So a local television station in Cleveland decided to put together an “investigative report” on the dangers of allowing your children to go to the public library.

They found that man, and that man was an Ohio State fan. What happens next will change the way you see humanity. You’re going to watch this and think it’s some sort of sketch comedy troupe prank. It isn’t.”

If Jrs could not leave early, I’d take Alabama right now for the 2011 National Champs.

We’ll lose Ingram, Jones, Barron, Hightower and Dareus, all of whom are juniors.

We only have McElroy, Dial(TE) and Carpenter (LT) as seniors on offense. 1 part time starter (Davis the RE) senior on Defense.

Why? undefeated this year and coming off a #2 ranking last year.

Why? Maybe because they've hardly scored at all in the 1st quarter so far this year. Wyoming kept the game close in the 1st half in Austin while Boise State blasted Wyoming on their turf. That's just to name a couple of reasons.

I hope I'm wrong. I hope they're able to run the tables in the Big 12 and play for another championship ... against Bama even. We'll see.

Texas defense is the difference this year. The offense is good enough, as long as the receivers don’t drop as many balls as they did Saturday...

I do not worry about the offense as much when i see the outstanding defense we have.

Defense wins more games for us. look at the 144 total yards tech got at a home game last week. When is the last time anyone every held Tech to that low an amount?

Yes ... defense is looking good! Love it! Now if the offense can get moving at the opening whistle and keep the moementum going, I'd be a lot more comfortable with their perceived ratings.

“Texas defense is the difference this year. The offense is good enough, as long as the receivers don’t drop as many balls as they did Saturday...”

Texas is ranked (stats) # 1 in defense against the rush..however, they were last year as well going into the Alabama game. The Alabama running backs had 189 yards rushing in the first half.

I submit that the Texas defense has not faced, and may not face, a real offensive threat this year.

Agreed...I am an SEC fan all the way, but I feel Florida is in a down year and do not derserve to be ranked that high...LSU as well is ranked too high.

I do think we should improve as the season wears on, but I have no hope of getting within a touchdown of Bama in Tuscaloosa, but if we get them in the SEC Championship Game, I think we should be more competitive by then.

This next stretch of 3 games will tell whether we are national title caliber.

We did not have a good one and one last time we played UCLA(remember Macovich’s last year was a 3-66 blowout in Austin). OU will always be tough for us but Nebraska in Lincoln is the one I dread the most.

Yeah, OU v UT is always a toss up. Could go either way. Agree on Neb, too. They’re looking very tough ... like the old days. Ags are always pesky too, but at least that one’s in Austin.

“You may be right, but I bet some OU and Nebraska fans would disagree.”

Nebraska had zero offense last year, but may indeed have one this year....we will see as the season progresses. OU had a 65 point per game offense two years ago until they finally played a team with a defense (Florida), and then they managed only 14 points...so, my point is this...the stats can lie according to the strength of the competition....a team can be ranked high in defense against the rush, but may play in a conference that doesn’t run the ball that much.

Undfeated Cinncinati averaged 40 points a game last year, but then played the second place SEC team in the bowl and got smacked 51-24....the level of competition for Cinncy helped them to an undefeated regular season...just as Boise and TCU will likely do this year.
