Skip to comments.Who will be the GOP nominee for president in 2012?
Posted on 09/22/2010 6:10:09 AM PDT by Jefferson Liberal
I think it will be Jeb Bush because he is a successful former Governor of a state with no income tax, he speaks fluent Spanish and latinos love him, and he is an intellectual heavyweight.
Who do you think it will be?
God, let’s hope not. No more Bushes, Clintons, Kennedys, et al. No way.
My choice is Mike Pence.
Jeb has too much baggage - mainly his brother. Unelectable.
It is far too early to tell, but Jeb has indicated he doesn’t want it and has mostly stayed out of personal politics since his governor days. (he has done some work for Rubio and Brownback recently).
Personally, although there are a lot of people I like, I have a feeling that we may get a dark horse candidate.
If I was betting money it will be Pence, but with my heart I hope for Sarah Palin.
Maybe we will get both I think.
Don’t know who will be up front though.
My worst fear is Romney.
Pence/Palin would be my choice. People are fried with the Bush’s.
Bush and intellectual heavyweight in the same sentence ? lmao !
I’m sick of the Bushes. Both Bush betrayed us. First Bush increased taxes. 2nd Bush tried to destroy capitalism in order to save it
Jan Brewer/Chris Christie
I think it will be and should be a republican governor like Pawlenty, Barbour, or Daniels. I think Sarah is doing just fine in her current role.
Paul Ryan would be great, but he has already said he won;t run because his family is young. I don’t blame him one bit. Family life when you’re a Congressman has to be bad enough, putting your kids in a position to live in the WH should be considered child abuse.
Welcome to FR n00bie
What has Jeb Bush to offer conservatives ???
Is he hoping to be the president of illegal aliens or American citizens ???
I think it will be Jefferson Liberal because he has demonstrated the kind of ignoring the rules that people really love!
I think Rick Perry has a better chance than Jeb. Unfortunately, the Bush name carries a lot of baggage at this point.
If I had to make a guess now, I’d likely go with some combination of Palin and Perry.
There is a fierce anti-establishment wave out there and represents the GOP establishment like no other candidate. I like him, but the timing is not right.
If a Yale & Harvard grad isn't an intellectual heavyweight, who is?
Good man . I’d add DeMint and Michele Bachmann /
Perry? No thanks, I want to win.
Jeb Bush has already announced he will NOT run. So has Jim Demint and Chris Christie and Paul Ryan.
Either Sarah Palin or Mitt Romney will be the nominee unless one of them does not run, but if both run nobody else has a chance to pick up the nomination.
I think it will be Haley Barbour. Being the chairman of the RNC and Republican Governor’s association, he has the contacts and ability to raise a lot of money. As governor of Mississippi he has proven to be a conservative stalwart and while things were falling apart in New Orleans, the place were Hurrican Katrina actually hit was Mississippi. He did a magnificent job during that crisis.
He has the ability to unite the tea party with the conservative establishment and I would love to see him debate “The One”...
Didn’t Obama go to Columbia and Harvard ???
Your worst nightmare.
Pence is lacking national recognition.
Bush is also the only president to have earned an MBA.
No more moderatse!! Try Pence/Palin...Santorum
” So has Jim Demint “
He was on Savage’s show today . Obviously you didn’t tune in . He hasn’t ruled out a run .
VP will be either Rob Portman or Mitt Romney.
This is annoying.
I think we’re on to something here, and it’s not what this newbie of 09/22/2010 states. ZOT patrol alert!
I’m with you....as head of the RNC he had the ‘rats going bonkers.
Jeb graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas at Austin.
Jesse: “Stay out da Bushes!”
I would rather have an Aggie and please no more Yale, Harvard or ivy league grads.
Sorry, I’m new. What rule did I break?
Since Sep 22, 2010
I honestly think it will be Palin vs Hillary Clinton.
Yes, Jeb Bush is a frontliner, making himself clearly visible against the Obama admin on a daily basis, and he is essentially the leader of the republican party, so your prediction that he will take the obvious next step and run for president on this tidal of support for him only makes perfect sense.
Such deep thoughts for your first thread/post..... Your follow ups should be even greater thought provoking.
Ya think? LOL
Sure has people riled up, though.
Let us not forget that Mr. Bush finished his postgraduate work at the bottom 10% of his class. So he got through it, tough to be booted out.
Daniels is a good man no doubt. I like Haley better because he was a proven fundraiser while at the RNC and we’re going to need someone who has the contacts and ability to raise a lot of money against “The One”. If Daniels were the nominee I would have no problem with that. He has a great record to run on. I love what his nickname was while director at OMB, “The Blade”. Just the kind of guy we need. One who knows how to “cut” a budget...
And the national press said almost nothing about it! Typical.
