‘69-’70 was what this looked like! Jets..early ‘69....SB3 win.....Mets in october in 5 over the darn birds...and the knicks over Jerry, Elgin and Wilt in seven for the ‘70 NBA Title in may of ‘70. nice for us old guys talking about the old days huh? It feels like it all only happened yesterday dosen’t it? (that line was from ‘The glory of their Times’.....the greatest MLB book ever.....if you have not read the 1966 book...get it), those old timers were something else!

>Would it kill the team to wear a little red, white and blue?
*****

They were designed and chosen by Corey Pavin’s wife, who wore the same red, white and blue that you espouse in the cover of a golf magazine...naked with the US flag around her bod.

Pavin’s wife is as patriotic as u and me. Her family were one of the last Vietnamese families out of Saigon and wants America to win.

Red, white and blue to me looks tacky and they wore it previously in past Ryder Cups and didnt look good but that’s just me. The most impt thing to me as a golf fanatic is that America retains the Cup.

If you want to feel sad and old, I was at a fair yesterday and a man was walking by with a green and white #12 jersey on and I nudged the younger guy next to me and said “Hey, a Broadway Joe shirt”. The guy asked who the hell was that!

You are closer on the vintage of the picture. Lapels were not that wide yet in ‘70. You also had Namath hair versus clean cut Johnny Unitus.

It is all about ratings and getting lots of press. The liberal sports press fawns over Tiger endlessly.

I am not totally sure about having so many bombers like Bubba and Dustin Johnson. Phil plays the bomb and gouge game too. I am not sure that will work in Wales. I think Kuchar, Mahan, Zack, Stricker, Furyk may be the best bets because they hit lots of fairways.

I went to golfwrx.com message board with better golfers but it is also filled with Tiger fan boys. A few were b*tching about Furyk being boring aka they were pissed Tiger is not playing. Furyk’s hitting every fairway, hitting every green and sinking putts with his used $39 putter.

She may be patriotic but what the hell was she naked on the cover of the Golf magazine covered by an American flag. She sounds like an idiot and she is not that attractive. A pretty tasteless move plus pretty tasteless outfits.

If it was Paula Cramer or Natalie Gulbis then bring it on.

Gulbis always has her bikini calendars every year...I try to get one LOL.

I would prefer an “idiotic” but patriotic American who poses naked instead of an “intellectual” libtard who hates my country IMO

Mrs. Pavin sounds like an attention wh*re. The clothes look like crap. There are a lot of really simple old school things that could have been done. Blue blazers, rep ties and gray or white slacks.

It takes a lot to make Hunter Mahan look like a dork but Mrs. Pavin succeeded.

I'm a Tiger fan myself, but I don't think he did anything this year to merit being on the Ryder Cup team, As for Furyk, whom I've always liked and rooted for, playing last weekend and not Tiger, well who's fault is that? Tiger had every opportunity to be out there but he didn't play well enough to make it to the end (again, this is my confusion over Pavin's choice). Furyk had the additional burden of being bounced from the first event because he overslept and was late to the Pro-Am, but he found a way.

We'll find out this weekend, but I'm not sure about ratings. coverage on ESPN begins Friday morning at 2:30am, EDT! That's Art Bell time. (Sorry George, but Art's name comes to mind first. Must be those dang shadow people.)
