Nails through the top of the sign. Both ways. Make sure the nails are small, so they cannot be seen, and make sure they go all the way through the sign.
And, yes. I have done this before. My Palin yard sign still has a little blood on it, but I still have it.

My dad planted a sign in the middle of some blue agave plants and one morning we found the sign a little askew and some blood covered denim cloth shreds.

Imagine after stealing your sign one says, "Hey dude, pull over .. I gutta' p!$$"

Flood lights, cameras, and another sign that says “Please steal this sign so that I can film you and prove that rats are the thieving scum we know you can be”. If your neighbors will cooperate, put cameras in the windows with neighbors on each side of you so you can get license plate numbers.

Then take the recording of the sign being stolen, and post it on youtube. Then file a police report, complete with video evidence.

I had this problem until I stapled a waterproof note to the top of my signs which read:

"If you want to steal or knock over this sign, please smile pretty for the web cam up in the trees, and I'll see you in court."

I've never had another problem.

put a bare wire around the border of the sign and hook to an electric fence generator for $60.



I hooked one of these to a trailer than had gotten broken into --- the tires act as insulators -- touch the knob and ZOWIE. Massive cussing in Spanish and squealing tires is all I heard.

Extreme pain, no lasting damage.

I live in one of the most liberal counties in the US. It’s veeeery interesting, but in years past I’ve had a lot of trouble with yard signs getting stolen, and signs were routinely stolen/vandalized by the roadside. This year, not so much. My Ehrlich sign has not been touched and neither have any of those out on the public roads. Makes you think that maybe not everybody is feeling as liberal as they used to.

I had several sets of signs stolen right out of my front yard.
Went to the tackle box and got 25lb. fishing line, tied all of the signs together and with a single line attached it to a Christmas bell inside my front door.
Heard a jingle about 11pm and low and behold a group of “yoots” where struggling to get away with them.
When the yard light came on they scattered like roaches.
Haven't had a problem since.
