Mercedes have given seven-time champion Michael Schumacher one more year to prove he is competitive enough for Formula 1. The 41-year-old German agreed a three-year deal with Mercedes GP after coming out of retirement, but he will not get to race in 2012 unless he can up his performance in 2011.

Bruno Senna and Sakon Yamamoto will be Hispania's race-day drivers for the remainder of the season. The team has so far used four drivers and there had been speculation that more changes were on the way.

Nick Heidfeld will consider a switch to Force India, Lotus, Virgin or Hispania following Sauber's decision to sign Mexican rookie Sergio Perez as Kamui Kobayashi's partner. Heidfeld had been one of three drivers alongside Timo Glock and Adrian Sutil trying to secure the second race seat at the Swiss-based team for 2011.

Robert Kubica says he's disappointed that Raikkonen is not going to be his team-mate in 2011: "I thought there was a chance of him coming to Renault."

OK, I’m not a twitterer, but was reading the links you had, and Legard just tweeted:
“Hamilton into tyre wall at Degner, like Webber and Kovalainen last year. 45 minutes of first practice lost”

Vettel Vettel Vettel and Alonso. Did Hamliton wreck two cars? His old man is a nasty pr**k. Caused lots of problems at McLaren.
What time is qualifying? I will check the streaming feed. Iwish I had TV back just for Suzuka, Spa and Monza.
Man - Kimi better have a seat at a good team in 2011. I wonder if he or Webber will go to Mercedes.
Current weather at Suzuka, Japan less than three hours before Q-fying:

Hopefully we will see another Monza 2008 when Vettel one in the Toro Rosso and Minardi.
One of the best races was the 1884 Japanese GP when Hill won in the rain and almost darkness. I liked Damon but he is a little lefty for me and pro Labour Party,
Following a final FIA track inspection shortly before 3:20 pm local time at Suzuka, it has now been confirmed that qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix will take place at a hopefully dryer Suzuka at 10 am (BST +8) on Sunday morning.
The final decision from FIA Race Director Charlie Whiting comes following torrential race for most of Saturday, with light levels also now fading rapidly.
With 2 o'clock having been the original time for the start of qualifying, half-hourly inspections were taking place although it soon became inevitable following an affected third practice session earlier on as well that no further track action would be able to take place, leaving drivers and team personnel to float custom-made boats down the pit lane.
The Sunday morning period will be the first grid deciding-session on race day since the aggregate qualifying format was last used at the 2005 Monaco Grand Prix.

I sure like your lengthy post a lot better than the katlick ramblings that someone feels compelled to share with FR daily!
