OMG. BSU screwed again by the BCS. After Auburn loses to ‘Bama, I wonder which 1-loss team will get the spot Boise State has earned over and over...
perhaps—but Mizzou is rising....
First let me say “War Eagle” so you know my prejudice.
Now ...
There’s no way Auburn and Alabama should be separated by 7 spots.
I love my team but they lack a determined defense. Sure they stop critical drives late in the game, but REAL teams have run up BIG numbers against Auburn. It’s just that Auburn has the ball last, and manages to win. (in addition to those critical stops in the 4th qtr.)
Boise State beat undefeated LSU?
Once again the BCS is setting itself up as the B.S.C becuase this poll is just bull sh*t.
The SEC Championship Game is the REAL national title game!
This year its not the SEC Championship game but the Iron Bowl, hee hee. THE SEC LEast is pathetic.
Agreed. It’s time for a playoff. I don’t know why we can’t use December for a 3 or four round tournament, instead of wasting the whole month waiting for bowl games that matter
I thought Oregon should be number one followed by Auburn, for the reasons you mention. I can’t buy Boise State because of their puff schedule. They play two above average teams and a bunch of squids and want to take the prom queen home.
You could say the same about Oregon. They massacre everyone in sight and can’t get to number one. At least Auburn beat somebody to earn it. Give them Boise’s schedule and they would look like 1971 Nebraska.
Oh please! Their schedule strength is in the bottom quarter of all teams. That is NOT earning anything.
OMG. I’m a long time Auburn fan. I know strength of schedule has a lot to do with this, but this is premature. The defense is not good enough to run the SEC gauntlet. Somebody is gonna figure out how to stop Cam, also.
But I’ll hope for the best and enjoy it if it happens.
Auburn has surprised me. They looked like garbage early in the year. They can beat Bama, who is full of head cases this year. It’s the games in between that they may struggle in. Three straight number one teams have gone down in three weeks.
The real weakness of the computers in the BCS is that margin of victory is not taken into consideration.
Neither Auburn nor LSU have a defense that can cope with the Oregon offense. Alabama’s defense would probably do even worse against against Oregon than LSU or Auburn.
LOL. Well, there’s no arguing with the fact that SEC teams have won the last four national titles — and that the SEC has dominated the national championship race ever since the independent schools lost their advantage in the national title chase when the automatic bids for major bowls were revised.
BSU plays an admittedly weak schedule, but the issue, as I see it, is - how have you performed against top tems when you get the opportunity? BSU has consistently won the big games. Besides, how can BSU strengthen their schedule when all the BIG BOYS (like Florida, Alabama, West Virginia, Texas, Nebraska, Ohio State, etc, etc) refuse to play them? Should they be perpetually excluded from the elite opponents just because the elite opponents refuse to schedule them? God knows Boise State has tried to get in the club. I’m hoping they crash the party this year. No matter what the mint julep swizzling alumni association crowd thinks, they’ve earned it.
Margin of victory SHOULD NOT be used in the computer polls, because MOV is meaningless. Boise has large margins of victory over creampuff teams. It tells us nothing, nada, zip, about how good they really are. If they would man up and play a real schedule, THAT would tell us how good they are.
The screaming for a playoff will get very loud this year when Boise St and TCU finish unbeaten yet are denied by the BCS formulas from playing in the title game which will favor a SEC team(as it should) and one of the weaker conferences like the big has been.
