You bet...hundreds of thousands of old Ford trucks are on the road today...You won’t see any or few if any 35 year old Honda or Toyota on the road in the distant future. Ya generally drive those cars 160k miles or so, and throw them away.

Depends on what you mean by "lemon," I suppose.

Consumer protection legislation typically labels vehicles as "lemons" if the same problem recurs despite multiple repair attempts (such as three times in a row over a short period, where previous attempts have not fixed the problem) or where defects have caused a new vehicle to be out of service for a prolonged period (typically thirty days or longer) for repairs. - wiki

Yours doesn't seem to qualify as a lemon, although I personally would consider it to be one.

Sorry about your troubles - I know two people who have owned Ram trucks for a while & neither have had any trouble with them.

So sorry you have to resort to being a smartass when someone's opinion of a turd doesn't match yours

Sorry, didn't mean to piss you off. Just trying to make a point that new car lemons are very rare and it's unfair to condemn the entire domestic auto industry for one substandard vehicle.

Buy what makes you happy - we have a free market for autos in the US, unlike the auto markets in japan, korea, europe, etc.

While I’ve heard stories similar to yours, my ‘05 Ram 3500 4x4 has been awesome! With 106,000+ miles on it so far, no troubles. I tow a 33’ trailer with 22,000 lbs too. I replaced the tires at about 85K, and recently determined that I need to replace the front axle u-joints (they squeak when I turn) and possibly the front ball joints. At over 100,000 miles I’m not going to complain. Heck, I still have the original brakes!

Regular service intervals for fluids and such. Best truck I’ve owned. It will launch like a muscle car (leaving four tire marks (dually) on the pavement) and will pull down a house if I want to. All while getting me 22 mpg.

Sold my last chevy in ‘05 and bought the Dodge Ram. No regrets. We now have my wife’s ‘05 Hemi Magnum and I recently picked up a Plum Crazy Hemi Challenger making us a Dodge family. We’ve also had great luck with the Dodge dealer we bought the truck and Magnum from.

I personally think that the four large trucks on the market today (Dodge Ram, Ford F series, Chevy/GMC and Toyota) are all good trucks. Each is unique in its features, drivetrain, etc., which appeals to their respective buyers. But at the end of the day, all of these trucks deliver power, reliability, comfort, etc., and will easily go 200,000+ miles. When you think about it, that’s pretty impressive. Lots of mechanical and electric parts that see abuse every day in all sorts of conditions. 200,000+ miles is a ton of miles.
