Mozilla pushes back release date for Firefox 4

Posted on 10/30/2010 11:52:57 AM PDT by HK.Ibtimes

Mozilla has shelved Firefox 4 and is now expected to release the open source Web browser early next year. Mozilla, which was working to release Firefox 4 this November, admitted that the browser was taking longer to finish than they anticipated.

In a blog post, the company said that it encountered delays in finishing the beta 7 version of the browser in spite of "strong progress" in development. The company also had to push back the release date due to the amount of preparations remaining before the software can be released.

I’ve been using various Firefox 4 beta releases for several months, currently beta 6 and it’s been quite stable on my IE 7 machine.

Why does Firefox consume more memory than IE?

What I meant to say was Windows 7, but it obviously didn’t come out the way I wanted it to.

IE has been eating their lunches lately. But I still use Firefox. I like the add-ons and apps.

OK, Win7 as opposed to migrating to FF from IE 7...

Still have to keep IE on the machine, however, for several reasons.

One is that Firefox has never properly printed some web pages with certain frames. FF yields one page and the rest vanishes.

The second is that Microsoft update service doesn’t work with FF as it depends on ActiveX controls or something similar.
