So, How Much Sanity Was There in D.C. Yesterday? (good crowd comparison)

Big name acts, extensive crowd control, rules against video or audio taping even with your cell phone, boring political speeches ... this wasn't a rally, this was a U2 concert! But how many people attended? ***********************************************

What if they held a political rally and a rock concert broke out?

The “Rally to Restore Sanity/Fear” in Washington, D.C., on Saturday looked like it was probably generally a lot of fun. The crowd looked cheerful, and I generally like Jon Stewart and sometimes like Stephen Colbert. The music was okay — I’m a big fan of Cat Stevens, and the guy with the beard (Yusuf something?) who sang “Peace Train” did a pretty credible cover version.

But Roger didn’t ask for a review; he wanted the now-traditional Pajamas Media crowd size estimate.

Good methodology, photo comparisons, and tabular data on crowd size estimates with different estimates to reflect percentage of terrain populated by people and how many square feet per person. The author uses Google Earth tool to estimate terrain, breaks up terrain into different quadrants based on density of crowd as needed, and provides extensive estimates for the Restoring Vanity rally and includes data from his prior analysis for the Beck rally. While the Beck rally was larger, I don't have strong feelings about crowd size. I think the whole competition angle is a result of Dem ego. Dems wilted when they saw how many people came out for Beck and they set crowd size competition as a worthy objective while Repubs set winning Nov 2 as a worthy objective. When they failed the first time (embarrassing low turnout), they decided to a) pretend not to try the second time and b) make it a rock concert and provide incentives to come. And for what? They let Beck 'set the agenda' for them?

PS: If you don’t have time to read the info at the link, the author demonstrates that the Beck rally was substantially larger and notes that Beck did it with a heck of alot less effort than the Vanity rally which included free transportation, hotels, and social pressure to attend not to mention concert performances.

Cat Stevens changed his name to Yusef Islam in the mid-1970s.

The problem the Left has with sanity is that the vast majority of the Left suffers from arrested mental development due to a severe lack of intelligence.

Therefor the failure of the Left to develop to a level where sanity can be properly assessed is a great hindrance to making a measure of it.

I think the "guy with the beard" part of the post was supposed to be a joke ;)

It's a vicious cycle because the failures are so prevalent in the Leftist fishbowl that one eventually must breakdown into defective personalities just to be able to operate among them.

My cell phone is waterproof. When I bought it, recording to tape wasn't an option so I took water proofing.

Some people claim it’s because they were taping it to play as a Colbert/Stewart special and therefore were trying to make sure theirs was the only copy. Others say it’s typical Dem fascism and paranoia.
