I have killed four elk and two moose in my 58 years on this planet and know the fun is over after you pull the trigger. The article states the original hunter was on foot when he bagged the critter, quartered it and hiked out with the head, planning to get help and returned on horseback the next day to retrieve the meat and that’s when the wolves showed up. I’m not criticizing these guys except maybe for not shooting enough members of the wolf pack - it’s just a long time to leave bloody food lying around with lots of carnivores trying to fatten themselves for winter.

Beautiful pix, thanks for posting. I make a yearly pilgrimage to GNP. Two Medicine area was the latest. Finally got to Grinnell glacier, too. Got outhiked by a lady ranger who was at least 158 years old. Dang it.

“Some interesting comments by wolf lovers after the article.”

Some ignorant comments by wolf lovers. I like that the wolf huggers were refudiated by the hunting community with common sense reality.

Stories like this are going to be very common in years to come.

I agree...The people in the hunting community in many states are getting really fed up with the animal rights/enviro nazi crowd and it’s good to see them responding.

There will be more and more incidents due to the protection of predators such as wolves, grizzlies and cougars in some states. More people, more predators and the animals becoming accustomed to man will ensure it.

Those lady rangers are tough :-)

This was our first trip there, hope to go there again, soon.

Great thread.

And I agree with the simple solution: It's time for wolf tags to be issued in Montana. And pronto.

Thanks for the ping!

You are right. The county sheriff is one of the most powerful positions in the US.

Don't think even for an instant that the "wolf huggers" considered the logical and factual statements of the hunters. Blind nature worship, like gun control is a religion - logic and reason don't enter into it, and people who shoot the wonderful wolves are blasphemers not rational people protecting themselves from wild animals - at least the the wolf lovers' minds.
