Close shave for wife killer
Boston Herald ^ | 11/8/10 | Laurel J. Sweet

A transsexual convicted killer suing the Department of Correction to have taxpayers pay for a new round of electrolysis and a sex-change operation doesn’t have any hair issues that couldn’t be resolved by more razor work and heavier makeup, the chairman of the prison system’s Gender Identity Disorder Treatment Committee claims in a newly filed court document.

“I believe that her opinion that if she didn’t shave for a week she’d have a full beard (like mine as she indicated) is a serious distortion. It is my opinion that a reasonable accommodation to address this inmate’s concern would be to allow the inmate to shave more frequently (twice daily) and to allow the use of cosmetics to further feminize her appearance,” Dr. Robert B. Diener wrote of Robert “Michelle” Kosilek in a report filed last week in U.S. District Court in Boston.

Chief Judge Mark L. Wolf has twice refused to order DOC to restart permanent hair-removal treatments for Kosilek, which DOC contends fell short of their desired effect in the past.

Kosilek, 61, formerly of Mansfield, was born male but is living and dressing as a woman while on hormones at the all-male MCI-Norfolk state prison, where he is serving life for the 1990 strangulation of his 36-year-old wife Cheryl Kosilek.

Diener, chief psychiatrist for DOC’s mental health service provider, “is not an independent expert,” Kosilek’s attorney, Frances Cohen, told the Herald yesterday. “He is a psychiatrist. He has no knowledge of electrolysis.”

Kosilek, who has been waiting 10 years for Wolf’s decision on his sex-change suit and who claims in court filings he has attempted both suicide and self-castration in his despair, “has informed the court that in her view the record is closed and she’s ready for a decision,” Cohen said.

DOC spokeswoman Diane Wiffin said the department does not comment on pending litigation.

What scares me is getting in a traffic dispute with a guy holding a loaded .357 on the way to his chosen location of suicide.

Screw the rest, You give the state the power to allow inmates the “right” to suicide, you give the state the right to “suicide” anyone in their custody.

Hitler started with the imbecile. Then the criminals...

Then anyone who messed with him.

This is a joke, right...?

Kosilek, 61, ... is serving life for the 1990 strangulation of his 36-year-old wife Cheryl Kosilek...

Once an addiction counselor, Kosilek was convicted of killing ... his wife. He dumped the body in a car outside a local shopping mall and went missing... ...(he wrapped a wire around her throat)...

Michelle Kosilek ... has said she feels distressed “every waking moment” as a woman trapped inside a man’s body ... Kosilek testified at the trial that she suffered from depression and had twice tried to commit suicide. ... “no one but me truly knows the depth of my despair.” ... Kosilek wrote.

Kosilek is a cold blooded killer.

His wife suffered a cruel death. Being strangled with a wire is not a pleasant way to go.

All the treatment he deserves is to give him a wire with which to hang himself in his cell with.

You make a good point about preventing inmate suicide. I never realized the danger of letting it become common, so that murders by other inmates or employees could be covered up. I always appreciate getting insights like that on an issue.

Similarly, I never had a good opinion of defense lawyers until I realized that without them, we’d have a police state. I have a lot of respect for police but we can’t let them have too much power, or there would be a lot of corruption.

“Inconvenient” prisoners already die in custody on a semi-regular basis. Jim McDougal, Kenneth Trentadue, etc. I bet you could find a dozen more on the Clinton body count lists.

How much prodding from a corrupt deputy do the animals in jail need before they kill another inmate? As it turns out, not much at all:

This undoubtedly happens all the time to street criminals in the joint. The attacks can easily be blamed on gang disputes.

I say let’s issue extra long bed sheets to this POS and let him end the saga for good.

Scott Brown: "That doesn’t make a lot of sense.”

Understatement of the week.

The mere fact that prison officials have to discuss these 'needs' seriously, and that they actually have a Gender Identity Disorder Treatment Committee in the prison system tells me that we, as a society, have gone way out of the boundaries laid down in the Constitution and the generally accepted mores that prevailed for the first 200 years of our country's existence.

We are doomed. By our own feckless stupidity and liberal catering to any old demand made by their constituents.

More proof that the Viet Cong really did put LSD in the drinking water.

My big question is why does the corrections department have a “Gender Identity Disorder Treatment Committee?”

Now I understand why we have a two billion dollar budget shortfall. There is absolutely no slack in the state budget, every single nickle is used to provide our working families vital services.

It's for da chillin, doncha know?

This may come as a shock to the men on this thread (brace yourselves) but women have...uh...hair on their legs too and they have to SHAVE...yes, SHAVE...to take it off.

Every married man knows that. Usually he finds out when he starts to shave one morning and tears the skin off his face in bloody chunks. My advice to guys about to be married or move in with their main squeeze, and to the fathers of all preteen girls: tell the women in your life they can use your razor to shave their legs, but please, please, please, change the blade, or dispose of it afterwards.

No, someone is trying to make the insane appear sane.

I agree that every married man knows that women have to shave their legs - I fully expected a few guys to complain that they wished some of us shaved our legs more often (public sightings of hirsute women).
I would add to your face-gouge request that there is an infection issue. My friend’s college prof’s face was paralyzed on one side. His daughter had borrowed his razor to shave her legs, he nicked himself shaving with that blade and acquired an unusual form of bacteria (doc believes bacteria came from her legs) that managed to cause nerve damage before it was brought under control. For that reason - the prof always reminded students not to borrow the razors of male guests or family members - it’s no small issue.

Slattery ran for office as a Death Penalty PROPONENT. Then he was offered a Hack Job so he wouldn’t have to face the wrath of the voters.

I have one of those new Gillette razors, the Pro-Glide one,and my sister loves to use it without asking me. It infuriates me,especially since the replacement blades cost a fortune.I tried telling her that it’s not good to use other peoples’razors. What do you expect from a teenager?

Hell is being a conservative living in Massachusetts.
This state is always complaining about needing more money, more money, but they have money for hair removal for transsexuals, not to mention welfare, housing and medicaid for Aunt Zetuni.
