Unbelievable...hard to imagine how you could ride some of those early exposed-chain deals without getting your pants-leg caught up in the chain ‘round the sprocket...at the bare minimum ripping your pants to shreds and at worst getting thrown under the nearest bus or truck. With a broken leg.

You do get out of bed in the morning, don’t you? ;)
I’d love to take some vintage iron on a nice long road trip out to some our Large Square States, that would be really awesome.

sounds romantic - but early bikes had a “total loss” oil system - youd pump the oil tank occasionally and the results would drip into the roadway after having lubed the motor...
Im an AMA member myself - great group - crazy money - but some models are still quite affordable and the more common brands are easily serviced

Great photos. Loved the antiques, reminded me of the time a guy offered to swap straight up, my brand new 1973 Z-1 for his 1939 Harley with side car. I still can't believe I laughed and walked away. LOL.
Like wives, the prettiest one on the planet is the one you are riding...2008 FLHRC limited ed. in copper pearl with Vance and Hines and lower fairings. Love it!

If you are ever in the Asheville, NC area stop by the Grove Park Inn.
They have a small auto museum w/ several old motorcycles .
IIRC a leather belt driven Harley.
And the best Sunday brunch you’ll ever experience.

Like Orville and WIlber Wright, building motorcycles, regular bikes, and such was a popular business. Now of course, it is verboten. Illegal. You must have permits! Vat country vould ve be if people just did what de wanted!
We must be not free so that we can be safe. Safety, security, social solidarity, each chained to each is the NEW AMERICA!
Enjoy.
