By accident I learned of a screening being held at a local movie 30-plex of Sarah Palin's Alaska on Wednesday evening. I don't pay much attention to local news, but there are a couple of websites I check daily and I never saw anything about this. While checking for new episodes of favorite shows on http://www.futoncritic.com, I saw there was a story about the show. Much to my surprise, TLC was holding advance screenings in 10 cities and mine happened to one of them! All we had to do is make online reservations which was simple enough. Why wasn't this event properly marketed?
We get to the theater and check in, we'd been instructed to bring the confirmation email and a picture ID (which we didn't need to show). They had a table manned by some very pleasant people and it was a quick process, we turned over our email printouts and were given a ticket for 1 soda each and 1 bag of popcorn. There was one security officer, but I think he knew the only excitement he was going to have was the actual show :). After going thru the concession stand, those kids were on their toes giving us fresh popcorn before we asked and directing us to the self-service drinks, it was on to the cashiers who happily took our tickets and sent us on our way to the theater.
We go into the theater and grab some seats. It's about 15 minutes until show time and maybe half full. Everyone is talking, it's a happy group with quite a few children. Just before show time, the theater is about 2/3 full and a local "celeb" stands up to warm us up, really? He explained about the show (again, really? :)) and then posed some questions about Alaska, if we knew the answer we were to stand up and if we were correct we'd get a CD. We got the impression that the "show folk" didn't quite understand their audience were Palin fans first and Alaska fans second. They seemed surprised that the Palin kids names were such an easy answer! They told us not to worry if we didn't "win" a question, they'd have a gift for all of us on the way out. And they did, we each got a cute stuffed bear and a packet of Sarah postcards.
The show was very entertaining, I believe it is the first show of the series. All the kids were involved to some degree (don't want to give anything away here :)) as was the First Dude and the First Parents. Suffice it to say, liberal heads will be exploding for the next 8 weeks! It was pure Palin, what you see if what you get, no pretense, no fake photo ops, no fake anything. And then there are the Piper scenes :), she's growing up and it's not addressed, but of all the kids she must be the most like her mom.
If it's showing in your city tonight, it's well worth the time if you have it and they have openings. Thank you!. Checked, she’s not coming to my town.
*L* You’re going to have a great time!
I wish it could have been everywhere, seeing it on a huge screen was great! We will be watching it again on Sunday night. It is fun and interesting.
Thanks! I hope it will be available online for those who don’t have access to TLC.
Here is a link to several Sarah related links on TLC, I hope it helps you! http://tlc.discovery.com/search/results.html?query=palin&x=0&y=0

Thanks for the heads up. It’s in my hometown tonight. I registered my wife and myself. Looking forward to it.
I apologize for the double PING. FR has been acting screwy again over the past three days.
Saw her last night at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas. She was wonderful. She had Rick Perry with her. Im not sure what is going on with Perry but news in Dallas is all over the Palin/Perry ticket. What do you guys think of Perry?
:-)
I think she does have a personal friendship with Perry from their RGA days, but as far as I’m concerned, he’s a squishy RINO.
Absolutely! :)
