Over-the-counter medicine: A bottle with 1,000 ibuprofen tablets probably has a great per-pill price. But check the expiration date. Chances are, it’ll take you five or six years to go through them — and they’ll have expired well before then.

Medicine doesn't go bad. The expiration date is just to get folks to throw out the old bottle and buy a new one.

RE: “I generally dont eat the cake type baked goods that are good for freezing.

I was thinking along the lines of fresh baked french bread, pumpernickel and stuff.

I dont think that would do to well in the deep freeze.”

*************

I’ve got La Brea Bakery (Los Angeles) breads in freezer now — Olive loaf, French bread, Rosemary loaf — they keep really well — just defrost for awhile and slice, or, slice before freezing - take out a couple of slices at a time and keep in a baggie for a half hour and it’s fresh — or heat and eat. I’ve been freezing everything for decades, but I do have room for it. We only buy meat when we want to eat it that day............

They will freeze just fine.Put them in a plastic bag seal ir with a twist tie and they will keep up to 4 months at 0 F.
Thaw them out out of the bag on a wire rack. Works good.

RE: “Choc chips will do. Many times that’s all we have. I like them combined with Butterscotch chips.”

I’ve been combining semi-sweet chips with dry Cheerios as a snack for years - recently tried them with Honey Nut Cheerios or the Chocolate Cheerios — great, but too much sugar, and more expensive. Going back to plain Cheerios soon — cutting back ;)

I make my own bread and buy the 25 pond bags at Sams, King Aurthur is twice the Price and the end product is the same. Rye, Whole Wheat, and Barley are difficult to buy in bulk but the quality between brands is minor in my experience.

Hmmm.....

I am surprised.

Those bakers work SO HARD for that perfect texture.

I have not seen Chocolate Cheerios here in WI yet.
I was addicted to Frosted Cheerios for a while, but again, they are too sweet. I used to mix half regular with half Frosted and that was good. I think I’d use the chocolate kind as a snack. Plain old Cheerios are always good to have around.

I bake my own breads and bake for friends.

Mostly lean breads just flour, water, salt and yeast and an enriched potato bread containing flour, water, mashed potatoes, sugar, salt, and yeast. These breads freeze well. The frozen and properly thawed breads are hard to tell from the fresh bread.

Try it. Also try baking yur own!

I stick to white yeast breads.
I dont have the facilities for making the good stuff.

The thing I have trouble with is the crust.

I want that perfect crust, I want the inside yeasty and airy.

Just the right crunch, just the right chew...
