'Dancing With the Stars' producer defends Bristol Palin...
Entertainment Weekly ^ | 11/19/2010 | Annie Barrett

Conrad Green, executive producer of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, is “mystified” by this week’s Bristol Palin vs. Brandy brouhaha. Green called EW to address rumors of a so-called Tea Party conspiracy designed to help Bristol Palin advance into Monday’s season 11 finals.

"She’s improved every week. I think a lot of people are ignoring the fact that she’s actually a decent dancer. What I think is annoying people is that maybe she’s not as vivid a performer as some of the other dancers on the show. Kyle is quite a performer, but Bristol is probably in terms of technique a better dancer than Kyle. But she’ll never get credit for that. The thing is, when you look at her, she’s actually quite shy. Watching someone develop stage presence is actually quite fascinating to watch, and I think that’s why some people are rooting for her..."

I’m not much of a fan of Karl Rove anymore but his organizing and delivering millions of votes for Bristol each week is amazing. Bush is also lending a hand but his involvement needs to remain hidden. /s

I hold out some hope that the frothing, rabid over-reactions of the left will tip things in Sarah Palin’s favor by the time the election comes...if she runs.

Was he referring to Bristol or Sarah or both?

“Apparently conservatives are “stuffing the ballot box” and he’s wondering if it will”

As I said on another related thread, he led the show with mentioning FR and reading/showing some posting excerpts from here that advised people to “vote often”, etc., for Bristol.

DWTS has been including gays and those promoting gay rights on recent shows.”

At least one judge (Bruno) and probably more than one of the pro partners are gay, it’s par for the performing arts. But I don’t think DWTS will go to the extreme of having same sex couples on (surely!), as I believe their audience is broad, watched by many families (strangely enough), and they’d lose a ton of viewers.

A SPINE? ROFLMAO! I’m sure it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the over the moon ratings this show has been garnering since this manufactured controversy!

Anyone can legally vote for their favorite....5 times by phone and 5 times on the website!

DWTS has been including gays and those promoting gay rights on recent shows. The degree of their intent to push the buttons of viewers will determine whether DWTS remains welcome in my home next year (social issues should not be the focus of dance competitions).

See how closely I have paid attention with my DWS... should be DWTS... Anyway, I heard/read someplace in the past weeks that the gal that Ellen Degenerate shacks up with is supposedly a candidate to dance as contestant next season.

I cannot comment on the sex preference of any of these people, whether they be producers/judges/ or contestants... but it would NOT surprise me to hear/read that some of the same sex prefers are working for the show.

Without Bristol the show would loose a lot of its audience..
I watch the show a bit totally because of that girl..
And turn the show off or switch channels after her performace..
I am not alone.. Bristol brings ratings.. i.e. MONEY..

Has anybody mentioned that hersupport might not be political;it might be single moms (there are many) or those who want a new mom to have some money?

I’ll say it again. The same people who like DWTS like American Idol. They are hypocrites - they have no problem with the public voting for certain Idol people, yet somehow have a major problem with them doing the same thing on DWTS? Please.

Geraldo was giving tips on voting. He said you can call in your vote from your phone, cell phone; vote on line from ALL your computers, even if you don't have a legitimate e-address.

"I can’t believe how angry the liberals are about Bristol Palin on a TV dancing show. Allegedly it’s a dance competition, and allegedly she lacks dancing skill. It’s just a TV entertainment show, yet, the liberals are going apoplectic about this. Amazing..............."

I'm trying to think of it as a warm up for 2012.Just imagine how excited they will be if the Palins move the Obamas out of the WH! ;)

Watching Geraldo...they quoted several FR comments regarding voting. Who’s the gal on Geraldo making comments? She said someone from FR talked about “blowing liberal heads off.”

How much do you want to bet that the FReeper said something like....liberal heads are exploding!

I sure won’t be watching if that’s the direction they’re headed. I would bet as well that their ratings will take a major hit. Just IMHO, of course. And good for Bristol. I hope she wins.

People were upset with all the support Marie Osmond got when she was on the show. Better dancers left before she did.

“I would bet as well that their ratings will take a major hit.”

No way. It is said that more people are watching because of Bristol and the controversy. The executive producer is standing by her:

One thing is certain, it isn’t Bristol’s fault she is still on the show.

She has improved. Maybe she shouldn’t be in the finals on dancing skill, but this show sets the rules and Bristol has done the job asked of her.

The rest, like voting, wasn’t set up by her.

I think their ratings will take a hit if the show goes with partnering females to dance together, as someone previously stated they read/believe that’s one direction the show will be going to next season. With Bristol being on the show, I believe their ratings have never been better.
