Never watched DWTS before last night. If it’s purely a talent contest, Jennifer wins hands down. But I understand she is a professional dancer while Bristol Palin is not. In that sense it’s not a ‘fair’ competition.
Britol’s ‘celebrity’ is being her mother’ daughter. It took guts to enter the competition. But that didn’t give her any serious dancing talent. I would hope that she comes away from the competition having had fun, and having made a few buck, and learning some new dance routines. But really she doesn’t deserve to ‘win.’
It’s a tv show, after all. Nothing more, nothing less. That it’s generated so much buzz, much less anger, is a sorry reflection on our society.

If this competition was based only on dancing ability, then obviously Jennifer would win and the judges would simply state the obvious and there would be no need for having a 50% viewer input to determine a winner. There is more to this competition than strictly ‘talent’. Go, Bristol!

As a professional Grey should obviously be the better dancer. That's not the whole story, however. Her "free style" wasn't very good. Add in using Swayze's death to garner sympathy votes and she has plenty of negatives. To me Kyle's freestyle was awful. Bristol was OK in both performances and not early as bad as I expected from the media buzz.
Strictly on dancing last night I'd have ranked them Jennifer, Bristol, Kyle.
How much weight do you give someone who has worked hard to improve vs. someone who was already famous as a dancer?
I don't expect Bristol to win. I think Jennifer was always a ringer to take the mirror ball trophy.
I really didn't care for any one last night. I've seen much better on the show in years past.

“I picked Jennifer who was great last night. Hope she wins. Bristol has improved every week so perhaps a Most Improved award would be more appropriate for her”.
Jennifer has dance training (remember Dirty Dancing) and is the daughter of Joel Grey, one of the best Broadway singer/dancer/actors of all time. She is hardly an amateur. Same for Brandy (singer/dancer/actress). The only true nonprofessional left in the competition is Bristol. For me it would have been great to see Rick Fox, Kurt Warner and Bristol Palin in the finals. They were the only 3 who were not in the entertainment industry.

How can there be a dancing contest, when one contestant has zero dancing ability and experience, and one has extensive dancing experience and ability? Grey was even coached by professionals to make a movie that was all about dancing. Nothing fair about it, and Bristol was doomed from the beginning.
No matter who wins tonight, in my eyes Bristol is the winner. She is the underdog, and just to be in the finals is a huge achievement. She started from scratch, and has improved the most. Each week she progresses with her dancing ability. Meanwhile, each week Grey has to remind us of her Swayzey/Dirty Dancing Movie connection, and her father the famous dancer/choreographer. It's those factors that gave her the edge, and as though they should count towards her win also.

Libs control almost all of the entertainment production in America yet they get their knickers in a twist if a conservative's daughter might win a trivial, and possibly rigged, TV contest.
It's fun to watch and if voting in an online poll makes the twist a little tighter, count on me to take 2 minutes to do it.
Happy Thanksgiving.

I feel your pain.
I grew up in Los Angeles during the 60s to 80s. With the football teams I had available try to imagine the horror that NFL Sundays are for me.
