So is the worst yet to come and why is he going after Obama?
I was always under the assumption that Assange was some kind of lefty, who would luv our Imam-in-Chief.

I’m trying to follow all the threads of this thing. What EXACTLY has been the material harm done by these leaks? Revealing? Yes. Embarrassing? Yes. But how is our national security at risk, i.e. how is your life and my life at risk? Seems like a lot of state dept types acting in typical non-professional manner is all.

Think Obama has no issue with Assange and his efforts to degrade and disempower America; he does not want or expect to be personally embarrassed in the process; and with that; he may be in for a surprise.

Note that this is true even for information which does not surprise us. For instance, in the case of North Korea supplying some number of rockets to Iran none of us is surprised in the least. However, if the number is precise and thought by the Iranians to be a "secret", then they will start looking for how we could have known. Furthermore, it may key them in to other information which they had previously presumed to be a secret which now they will presume to be compromised.

I think there is a chance this Assange guy just hates all government secrets enough that he doesn’t care who it hurts or offends. I do think he is more interested in personal promotion than he should be.
He just seems creepy, he may not favor anyone over another..

I bet somewhere in the future it will be revealed that the whole Wikileaks expose’s were known by Obama, may not have been Obamas plans but Obama knew what and when the leaks were and what it would do, create smoke, mirrors, confusion and diversions.
No judge will allow "standing" to any American. The SCOTUS won't do squat. The Congress will make speeches. And the media will play reruns of All The President's Men to prove how this is all nothing in comparison.

It does affect national security because it dampens a free and candid exchange of views. Nothing which has been relesed is really surprising or even unexpected in the course of normal diplomatic affairs but how many diplomats, knowing what could happen, would be prepared to give their unvarnished views of local affairs overseas in future?
This most certainly does affect national security.
On another thread regarding George Bush’s Facebook interview, one poster claimed that the Bush White House had put together a “cyber attack” office. He further stated that the Obama White House has chosen not to make use of it.
In light of what you just said, it would appear that Julian Assange may have beaten Obama to the draw, or gotten the drop on him, as they say.
