Those were the days...the Morning Zoo was great. That’s where I first heard the song. I thought it was funny back then. It’s still okay. I’ve heard a lot worse.

ah—that one is by the Drifters
many yrs ago my college station got a 45 by “Bob and the Dylantones”, “White Christmas”. Basically a guy doing a Dylan imitation singing the classic...kind of like the “Bruce Springstone” single that had a Springsteen version of the Flintstones theme (flip side, same voice doing take me out to the ball game iirc)

The two that make me cringe and change the channel are the Christmas song by John Lennon and Yoko Ono and the ‘marginally” Christmas song about some guy whos sees his old lover in a grocery store on Christmas Eve.
To: raccoonradio
Everything about it stinks, beginning with the lyrics. He can’t sing. The music is hideous. Shall I go on? :)

I still think the version I linked just above is the best. The Irish Rovers of “Unicorn” fame later dropped the “Irish” from their name for a time in the 80s after the success of
the song Wasn’t That A Party and this one too.

"What is annoying to some about the Elmo and Patsy version, his voice or song itself, or both?" I think his voice sounds like Rand Paul. Just sayin'....
