We are asking everyone to say a prayer for Darkhorse 3rd Battalion 5th Marines and their families. They are fighting it out in Afghanistan & they have lost 9 marines in 4 days. IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE the message spread if more could pass it on.

Semper Fi - Marines
Prayers up for the Darkhorse Battalion.
God Bless the 3rd Battalion.
I’m seeing this in my email inbox daily for the past four or five weeks; not sure what gives here.
G-d, bless the Darkhorse 3 / 5, and lead them to Victory!
That’s what I was wondering... I am sure I received this in an email October or September.
The link above does not have any information about the casualties.
They are awsomely great men.
May they tear a hole in those attacking them and route them straight to perdition!
I received in in my e-mail today.
I am a member of the local Marine Corps League here, and have added 3/5 to the Pray list at the 3 Churches that support our Detachment in our Wounded Warrior Project Fundraising Semper Fi 3/5
Prayers going up from DFW, Texas, for our brave military men and women! May God shine His Face on them and keep them safe from harm!!
When did 3/5 start calling themselves “Darkhorse”?
I served with them 20 years ago, they were the Consummate Professionals. Kind of goofy but that was the motto, I didn’t know you could just change it.
Anyway, Get Some Devildogs!
‘Darkhorse’ Marines Fighting it out in Afghanistan ~ PRAY
To date the battalion has seen seven members decorated with the Navy Cross, all for gallantry in combat, two in Korea and five in Iraq. This is the most for any unit in the Marine Corps.
The Dark Horse is the third horse of the Apocalypse:
The third horseman rides a black horse and is generally understood as Famine. The horseman carries a pair of balances or weighing scales, indicating the way that bread would have been weighed during a famine.
Of the four horsemen, the black horse and its rider are the only ones whose appearance is accompanied by a vocal pronunciation. John hears a voice, unidentified but coming from among the four living creatures, that speaks of the prices of wheat and barley, also saying "and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine." This suggests that the black horse's famine is to drive up the price of grain but leave oil and wine supplies unaffected. One explanation for this is that grain crops would have been more naturally susceptible to famine years than olive trees and grapevines, which root more deeply; the statement might also suggest a continuing abundance of luxuries for the wealthy while staples such as bread are scarce, though not totally depleted. Alternatively, the preservation of oil and wine could symbolize the preservation of the Christian faithful, who used oil and wine in their sacraments. Another interpretation based on Ezekiel 45:13 is that wheat and barley represent the people's contribution to sacrifice to the Temple in the old Jewish traditions when Solomon's temple stood. The scale represents the balance and measure of the people's contribution, in order to equally distribute it among the 12 tribes. But, one of the four living creatures says it will cost a day's wage to get the barley and wheat. Therefore, the horseman will use his scale to equally distribute a days wage among nations, resulting with a 3rd Temple, but he is not to harm God's anointed and their wealth.
I think the Dark Horse are in batte so often that we keep getting reminders to pray for them. A week doesn’t go by that they are not in some face to face action with the enemy.
From what I can gather they are at the center of the drug supply network in Helmund province, and they are dis assembling the infrastructure there that generates all the money that supports the Taliban from the poppy crops.
That means they encounter armed cadres of Taliban on a frequent basis.THe butchers bill is high.
Here is another FR Dark Horse Cross thread reference from October:
We should combine these threads in one continuing thread and send them to the Marines so they know they all have our prayers all the time.
Good Idea, but I am off to Japan for three weeks and just can;t spend a couple of hours doing it at this point. If you want do it, ,it would be great.
I am sure the Dark Horse battalion Chaplain would print it all out and put it on their bulletin board.
Actually, this info is old...they've been in battle since mid October and 16 have been lost.
Well it seems they are continuously embattled.i got the e-mail yesterday, and thought I should post it, given the season and all.
Forgive me if its old, but maybe its still a good time to let them know of our support.
