The American Film Institute has announced its list of top 10 features of the year, which reads like a tally of leading Oscar contenders: Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, 127 Hours, The Social Network, The Town, Toy Story 3, True Grit, and Winters Bone. The AFI jury (which included my EW colleague Lisa Schwarzbaum) also gave special awards to two films that were not eligible for the top 10: The Kings Speech (ineligible because its British) and Waiting for Superman (which couldnt be considered because its a documentary).

Winters Bone
I’ve heard of 4 of these. Haven’t seen any.
I’ve seen Inception and Toy Story 3. I want to see True Grit and possibly The Fighter. I heard James Franco’s performance in 127 Hours is incredible.
Also I need to start the timer to see who will be the first nimrod to come on this thread and say, “I don’t go to see anything from HollyWeird”.
Have seen Inception, Winter’s Bone, The Town and The Social Network. Inception and The Town were entertaining but Best Picture? No way. Winter’s Bone and The Social Network were Excellent!
The Town was very good. Looking forward towards The fighter and True Grit. Also want to see Black Swan and 127 Hours.
True Grit: Jeff Bridges as Marshal Reuben J. Cogburn and Hailee Steinfeld as Mattie Ross
Also one of my faves of the year was The Ghost Writer, before I figure out who directored it.
“Also I need to start the timer to see who will be the first nimrod to come on this thread and say, I dont go to see anything from HollyWeird.”
I always watch for the first nimrod to poison the well.
BUMP!
Mark Wahlberg & Christian Bale in THE FIGHTER
Eww, really winter’s bone? That movie was not that great, it was OK, not even worth a second watch. Maybe if you like redneck methhead hoedown with some imbred mafia, this might be the movie for you.
Never heard of any of them.
Some say it’s a “coming of age” movie.
True Grit will remain a John Wayne film

There ya go!
how could it be that Secretariat is not on this list?
