Ironically this is the Jets "strength and conditioning" coach that did this. Also, this is the same football organization that made all that hoopla about the New England Patriots videotaping defensive coaching signals a few years back.

Already, sports radio in both cities (NYC and Boston) are going nuts over this. I guess the Jets are never going to have the moral high ground again as whenever Jets fans bring up Spygate, Patriots fans can retort "Well at least our coaches don't deliberately attempt to injure opposing players."

Chances are, the Jets coach involved will be fired from the organization and the NFL will hit him with a stiff fine and banish him from NFL sidelines for at least the rest of the season, if not a lifetime ban.

That’s nothing. I saw Woody Hayes punch out an opposing player for tackling one of his guys

This is nothing and looks unintentional.

Looks to me like the player tripped over his OWN feet, not the coaches.

I would say a fine plus the coach has to pay for the time and money out of his own wallet it takes to recover from this.

The ENTIRE Jets franchise is based on ONE game played almost 40 years ago.

The Jets are the Ted Kennedy of the NFL...

Dicky Moegle (he later changed the spelling to Maegle to make it consistent with the pronunciation) was awarded a 95 yard touchdown run in the 1954 Cotton Bowl when a player from the bench tackled him as he ran down the sidelines.

Video of play.

While the coach may have extended his knee a little bit, the dolphin player was breaking the rule by running up the field while out of bounds and making no attempt to get back in bounds before advancing up the field. The reality is that by rule there should have been a 15 yard penalty on the dolphins for the attempt by the player to run up the field without getting back into the field of play first.

I saw the video. He did NOT trip the Fin at all. He bent down slightly on his knee. And the Fin was out of bounds anyway. Boo hoo. Fins are such whiners. I guess it’s descended from the crybabies Shula and Marino.

Why do they have to keep bringing up the 45-3 pasting that the N E Patriots put on the lowly Jets? Over and over. Patriots pound the jets. Patriots crush the Jets. Why do they keep reminding us of that event which was over a week ago? Why can’t they just report the news about the Jets losing for the second week in a row, instead of how they suffered at the hands of the Patriots? A New York coach does an unsportsmanlike thing, and the first thing they want to do is drag the Superbowl-bound New England Patriots into the fray, and remind one and all what a bunch of losers the Jets really are. 45-3. Enough, already!

That is the right thing to do.

I’d like to see the video of the player running directly into that coach at top speed ... oh darn, just an accident.

You want irony? Check this out. As a player at Hofstra, Sal Alosi won an award for “good sportsmanship and fair play”. Not quite up there with Arafat winning a Nobel Peace Prize, but close. :-)

.... As Holmes took the ball for a short return, cornerback Nolan Carroll(notes) was hurt on the right sideline as he rushed down to cover the play.

Two days ago, Nolan Carroll's Mom, Jennifer Carroll, Republican, was inaugurated as the new Lieutenant Governor of Florida.
