That movie has what I've always wanted, a home with a little back yard and a few nice outfits...

Great movie, and source for my often used description of America today...
It is all Gone With the Wind.

I love that movie.

Haven't watched it for at least 20 years. Have no interest in watching it for another 20.

You might enjoy the book “Rhett Butler’s Story” - sort of a companion story of Rhett as a child and his friendship with Belle Wattling.

The book was MUCH better than the movie. There was so much more background on events and their impact, regarding the war and reconstruction. The movie (while good in and of itself) steered away from much of that and was more a fluffy “romance” film.

Thanks, I’ll look for it. I’ve always loved Rhett and never could see why Scarlett didn’t throw rocks at Ashley. :)

My parents went to see this when it first came out in 1939, but my father did not get to see much of it.

He had to take me outside and walk with me in his arms as I was crying so much in the theater. lol I was only 9 months old. Mother got to see it all.

What about Ann Rutherford and Alicia Rhett? Both still alive.

“Lawzy, we got to have a doctor. I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout birthin’ babies.”

or better yet ...

“She’s being just like Pa. Just Like Pa!”

One of the greatest movies ever filmed, IMHO.

Well slap my mouth and call me Bridget. This is the article I saw just the other day:

http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olivia_de_Havilland

"Olivia Mary de Havilland (born July 1, 1916) is an English actress and is the only living star of Gone with the Wind, but there are also actors with smaller roles in said movie who are still alive."

Guess I missed that last part. I was just surprised Olivia is still kickin'.
