Olivia’s sister Joan Fontaine is also still alive. At the time GWTW was filmed she was making Hitchcock’s Rebecca also for producer David O. Selznick.

A wonderful movie. We have it on DVD as of a few months ago. We finally watched it a few weeks ago over a two night period. It’s timeless.

There was a movie many years ago starring Joan Fontaine called, “Frenchman’s Creek”. At the time I saw it, I thought it was the most romantic movie I had ever seen. I have remembered that movie all these years, but I think it must have been destroyed in one of the Hollywood fires. I can’t find anything about it now. Love GWTW too.

I just found out the the movie was an adaptation of the novel, “Frenchman’s Creek”, a 1942 historical novel by Daphne du Maurier. Strange, one would think I would have known that as I am an avid reader and loved the work of Du Maurier. The movie is not available on DVD.

I’ve wished for years that I could see that movie again. It was a fantastic movie, but never got seemed to gain the popularity of some of the other movies of that era.

I recently bought a Blu-Ray copy of GWTW. The restoration is fabulous and highly recommended.
