17 MORE minutes? Like it wasn’t enough of a crushing bore already?

Maybe it's the 17 minutes that actually explained what the movie was about?
(2010 didn't do a very good job of it)

You beat me to it. Visually it was a great movie, but I never understood what the point was, or even if there was a point.

Yeah... That movie really needs to be longer.
OK, in all seriousness. I hope to see it.

They can come out with a 3D version and then two months later they could have a 3D version with the lost 17 minutes. George Lucas should have lost some minutes from his movies because I doubt he is done milking the Star Wars saga for every last nickel.

You mean to say the footage isn’t in Kansas anymore?
28 times sci-fi movies have used ‘We’re not in Kansas anymore’

My dad took me to see this on a 70mm screen in downtown Cleveland when I was a tot.
Best nap I ever had. Can’t wait to miss the “lost” minutes!

I actually enjoyed that film, right up to the acid trip at the end.
So, if this is 17 minutes more of that nonsense.......

Probably 17 minutes of “Hal”, “Yes Dave?”
To: mlo
Yep. All makes sense once you read the ending in the book.

Maybe it's the 17 minutes that actually explained what the movie was about? ya gotta read the book.
Arthur Clarkes, novel, ‘2001 a space odyssey’
its like the movie was meant to be viewed ONLY after the book is read.
