Just came from seeing it. Loved it with one exception. I didn’t care for the ending. I preferred the John Wayne ending when he takes her home and then jumps the fence as he says goodbye. To all of a sudden cut to an older Maddy with one arm, well she just wasn’t that good and no Jeff Bridges in the final scene. Felt cheated. That movie deserved a happier ending.

I’m going to have to disagree with the dialogue being identical. I can quote the entire original movie and very few of the movies lines were the same. A few were, but not many.

Lonesome Dove was FABULOUS. The book is awesome, too.

“Son, you have a panty on your head.” Raising Arizona

“And I guess that was your accomplice in the woodchipper.” Fargo

Both classics.

If not identical, very, very similar. I win.

I think the Coen ending sticks with the book (I haven't read the book), so that's why we have a armless Maddie.

Also, I assume the book has Rooster in the Wild West show the movie references but to me, that isn't believable. A Rooster 24 years older than when we last saw him in the movie probably couldn't ride a horse, much less do shooting tricks.

I agree I did some quick math during the movie and that would make him pretty darn old.

OK, OK, Greyhound, I will heed your advice and should I ever come across the new movie, I will be open-minded.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully I will too.
