A New Jersey woman who hopes to become the fattest woman in the world got 30,000 calories closer to her 1,000lb goal with a festive feast that could have fed dozens of revellers.

46-stone Donna Simpson, sitting in a reinforced metal chair, chowed down on the world's biggest Christmas dinner as she ate for two straight hours on Saturday.

The single mother-of-two tucked into two 25lb turkeys, two maple-glazed hams, 15lbs of potatoes (10lbs roast, 5lbs mashed), five loaves of bread, five pounds of herb stuffing, four pints of gravy, four pints of cranberry dressing and an astonishing 20lbs of vegetables.

If it’s anything like hitting feral hog, you’d be dead.

Want to bet that she is on disability and draws a government check?

If you would have taken a minute to read the article you wouldn't have made such a stupid bet since it says how she earns a living.

Word for the day: “Gluttony”. Medieval theologian Thomas Aquinas said of Gluttony: “Gluttony denotes, not any desire of eating and drinking, but an inordinate desire... leaving the order of reason, wherein the good of moral virtue consists.” (2, 148, ad 1)

I concur.

Agreed - I don’t think consuming that much food in two hours is humanly possible.

The Discovery Channel had a few specials on supereaters, people that eat like this lady all the time. They said that whatever part of the brain tells us we're full just doesn't work for them. If her stomach, which you have to admit looks pretty large, can hold it she'd eat it. The show I watched had people so fat the were in danger of killing themselves from the sheer weight of the fat pressing down on their vital organs. The fact that this lady can still move around enough to get dressed and out of the house doesn't even put her in that category yet.

The thing I find hardest to fathom is the family members who keep bringing food to someone so large they can't even move anymore. These people can't do it without help.

I knew of a patient who was roughly 500lbs whose family would bring him a barrel of KFC in the hospital for him to eat. Not a “bucket”, they used to have a “barrel” size, for family picnics.

I forgot to mention the “couch lady” whose husband would bring her food. She never moved from the couch and her flesh grew into the couch cushions.

I hope she has made arrangements for her kids when she dies. Not if but when. Only someone mentally ill would want to become the fattest woman in the world. I am not one to say that children should be removed from their parents BUT IMHO this case should be investigated.

I cannot imagine why this woman would want to be at such a weight.
Nor can imagine even watching someone eat that much food at one sitting.
How much money is spent feeding this woman and who is paying for it???????????????

What sickened me the most about this story is the picture of her rolling around the supermarket in that scooter. Those scooters are intended for handicapped and elderly people but this woman chose to put herself in one. Probably some 80-year-old granny with a heart condition was forced to do her groceries on foot so this fat slob who should have been able-bodied could ride around in it to collect her Twinkies and Ring Dings.

Maybe she's not on government welfare but one thing she is doing is driving up health care costs for the rest of us with her self-destructive behavior.

Unless she smartens up and gets her act together, we'll be reading her obituary in the near future.

Wow! Her husband looks to be normal sized. I’ve read about men who want to keep their wives fattened up, so other men “won’t want” them. In this crazy world, there are men who are turned on by fat women, so this guy better watch his back.

That’s very sad. I agree - it’s hard to believe a family member would aid this destructive behaviour. It would be like supplying your loved one with drugs.

Better have a Kenworth or Peterbilt, a Ford F-150 or Silverado would lose in a head on collision with that iceberg.
