My brother in law will be trying out. He’s a liberal but a pretty decent guy. He’ll be tough competition.

A. A rake, a snake, a flake, and a fake.

Q. Who are Bill Clinton, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama?

When I was young, I think I could have done OK on Jeopardy except I would have been so nervous that I probably would have frozen up.

I am now in my 60’s and it is still my favorite show. I still know the answers to a lot of questions but can’t come up with the answer in a short time. I know I know it, just can’t come up with it.

If they would give me five minutes for every answer I thing I still would do OK.

About 20 years ago, a buddy of mine got on the show. He was an Army E-8 and was a member of MENSA. We figured he’d run the table, but he had some issues with hitting the buzzer and ended up with a big goose egg. I’m afraid the same thing would happen to me, even though I’m nowhere near being MENSA class.

It is hard to know how one would do.

I know I would be nervous, at least to start with. Sometimes being nervous seems to sharpen my senses and mental quickness. Other times I turn into a complete idiot especially around beautiful girls.

lol. yeah, I'm 54 and was very sharp at jeopardy at one time.

But information retrieval does sorta degrade over time doesn't it? :)

My wife graduated from Oklahoma State with a 3.97 GPA. I got out of college with a 2.1.

We both took the Federal Service Entrance Exam together in 1973. She scored 89th percentile and I got a 99. I think it surprised her but she ended up getting an automatic 100 due to her grades.

Let me share my experience. I tried out twice, the first
time they only chose college students, so it was obvious
they were casting for the college tournament. The second
time they were choosing 30’s somethings...
When I went, we had about 100 wanna-be’s and the test
had handwritten answers. there were about 50 questions per
test. We also had to fill out a personal questionnaire.

My guess is that this is what they do:

While sitting in the audience chairs, their cameras are on
you, and they see if you are photogenic.
Out of those, they pick out some with interesting demographic
profiles who fall into the personnel character they
are looking for. Then they look at your test to see if you’re
either a complete moron, or a walking encyclopedia, or
someone who can hold their own. How they graded all those
handwritten tests in 10-15 minutes is beyond me.

Then they read the names of the people they are interested
in, and invite you back for further trials, and then
they actually record their shows in a few months..In my
case, had I been chosen, it would have been in 5 months hence
I don’t think I’m gonna wait around in life for that...

I had other experiences trying to get on other shows, and
the main thing they want is decent looking on camera,
interesting stories to tell, good vocal skills,
ability to lose and or win with grace(i.e. no rabid
intelligentsia apply). If you get a trial remember not to
be tooooo funny, don’t get angry when they make mistakes,
and don’t step on Alex Trebeks lines.

Best wishes to all wanna-be’s....

Oklahoma State? Your wife couldn't get into college too?
