All, and I mean, ALL of the black kids in my Houston Texas 5th grade class at the time said it was fake.
The US can do anything. Or, we used to be able to before we became a racist, gun toting, praying society run by a bi-sexual kind of mocca guy with dyed hair from another country.
Why would they say such a thing? Awful.
I’ve run into a lot of these people. It’s very sad.
Great stuff. In spite of Opie’s ham-handed treatment of Grumman, “Apollo 13” remains one of my favorite movies. For those of us astro-junkies from that time, I highly recommend Gene Kranz’s book “Failure Is Not an Option” which recounts the early days of NASA from the pre-Mercury days through the Apollo missions.
You might also want to read Borman’s account of the Apollo 13 mission. I believe the book is called “Lost Moon”, and can be found on Amazon.com
I have read “Lost Moon”, but not the Kranz book. I’ll have to put it on my list. Gene Kranz is one amazing individual.
Also this month, the 25 year anniversary of Voyager 2’s encounter with Uranus:

Ever wonder what Uranus looks like? Well, you can view photos of Uranus here:
We also lost Challenger 25 years ago this month. A lot of history, it seems...:(
I was home sick in 7th grade that day. Earlier that morning before the disaster, I remember clearly on the radio that the CJ series Jeep was being halted for the Wrangler.
Man, that made it a really, really bad day...:-(
And also there is this fabulous site:
And for balls out heroism and courage, both in the LEM cockpit and with Kranz’ crew on the ground in Houston, this magnificent, historical recording, is always compelling, culminating in the absolutely undeniable United States’ triumph at 31:45.

The good old days before NASA’s mission was to make muslims feel good about their contributions to space exploration.
Great post ! Thanks !
Remember that day well. At the time, I worked for a software vendor who sold our product to both NASA and Morton Thiokol (maker of the fuel tank that exploded). Not fun being on the support line that week!
Looks like a refreshing alternative to Obumbler tonight, thanks for the link!

My Philly-Jersey-Talian coworkers are mooon skeptix, too.
