Where was Obamadog? I’m surprised that the American I-dull/Oprah Win-free-stuff watching crew didn’t make the Portugese Water Dog the top breed.

I love Goldens. Mine died nearly 3 years ago. What a great dog! Taught my kids and I a little about God’s unconditional love. I know everyone knows this, but I love the way d-o-g is g-o-d backwards.

Having seen photos of Dobermans with their tails undocked and ears uncropped, I’m inclined to agree. They look completely different that way.

Well, they did say popular, not best.

The English Mastiff is the best dog. All others are posers.

No way are Golden Retrievers #5! Obviously they did not poll Cedarburg, WI.

At least 1/3 of the dogs in Cedarburg are Goldens. They even have their own contingent in the 4th of July Parade! One year they arranged all the Goldens by order of color from light to dark and the puppies got to ride in wagons and strollers!

Yorkies rule. “Woof, woofie, woof. Snuffle.” “We’re number three!” But we’re really Number One.

I just wish man’s best friend had a longer life cycle. They become such a close companion, yet we almost invariably out-live them; and it’s sad to lose your best friend every 10-12 years.

If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can get going without pep pills,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too
busy to give you any time.
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can ignore a friend’s limited education and never correct him,
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than an poor friend,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no
prejudice against creed, color, religion or politics,
THEN, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog.
