PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Disneys newest cruise liner, the Disney Dream, came within feet of striking another ship in Port Canaveral last week. But, on Wednesday the cruise line insisted that there was never a safety concern.
A YouTube video captured by a passenger shows the the Dream drifting close to the Royal Caribbean ship the Monarch of the Seas just two days before the Dream was christened on January 17.
In the video, a Royal Caribbean worker is heard saying, Close! Witnesses said the dream came within feet of the Monarch.
At one point, a Royal Caribbean worker told the person shooting the video to put the camera away
No harm, no foul.
Goofy at the helm.
Close!.. within a 1000 yards?.. 100 yards?.. 10 yards?.. 30 feet!.. 10 feet?... What!..
Maybe they were playing pirates or something?
When 128,000 tons of ship bumps into 74,000 tons of ship it isn’t going to be fun. Even at very low speeds that is gonna leave a mark.
Hah! I get video of two ships crashing, it's a payday! You want me to put it away, pay me 10 grand otherwise Go pee up a rope.
To which my reply would be to inform that man that he should go forth and multiply.
I reservet he right to document, in any means that is available, a case where I fear for my personal safety. If my video record helps establish the cause of the accident, or close call - that record NEEDS to be preserved.
If the pirates were from Pittsburgh, they probably won.
Feet is plural for Foot. Just how many feet are we talking about here? 1500?
I would also like to know. With asteroids, something like 250,000 miles is considered "close".
Saw a tour of the ship yesterday. Looks great for a family cruise.
YARRRRRRRRRRRR DISNEY WAS PLANNIN' T'BOARD HER! YAAAARRRRRR
The problem is you end up having to stand in line half the time.
I dunno...maybe the angle made it look closer than it really was. Sure it could happen, but I doubt the capt would be negligent in noticing the RC boat.
