Winter's Fury: Monster Snowstorm Heads to Midwest, Northeast (Could be worst in 40 years)
ABC News ^ | 02/01/2011 | LEEZEL TANGLAO and MAX GOLEMBO

A potentially deadly winter storm is making its way eastward across at least one-third of the country this morning, bringing with it a combination of heavy snow, ice and freezing temperatures.

In what could be the worst snowstorm the country has seen in more than 40 years, more than a foot of snow may fall on a 2,100-mile stretch from New Mexico to Maine, weather forecasters said.

Blizzard warnings are in effect for nine states with the storm expected to significantly affect Oklahoma City, Kansas City, St. Louis, Detroit, Des Moines, Iowa, Chicago and Milwaukee, Wis.

Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Craig Fugate said the snowstorm will pack a powerful punch and warned residents to be prepared.

"This is not something that's sneaking up on us," he said. "It's been well-forecasted. We know it's going to be bad … prepare like it's bad."

This winter weather comes on the heels of an upper-level storm system, according to the National Weather Service.

Besides snow, rain will create icy conditions in southern Missouri, central Illinois, Indianapolis, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pa.

Where’s Al Gore to warn us that extreme weather of any kind is a sign of global warming?

Everyone in the storms path should be forewarned.

I'm right at ground zero here in Central lower Michigan. I'm ready for it. Just hope we don't lose power. I have alternate heat and lights though...

Ask the local idiots what halted the last ice age then since the evil internal combustion engine was not around then.

Truth is, we exist in pockets of nice weather in between long stretches of "ice ages".

RE: Local idiot eco-freaks claim the ice age we are in is a sign of global warming.

When the temperature warms, it’s global warming
When the temperature cools, it’s global warming
When it rains hard, it’s global warming
When it doesn’t rain at all, it’s global warming
When it snows hard, it’s global warming
When there’s a blizzard, it’s global warming

Global warming is such an all-encompassing “science” that it explains everything. It also explains nothing.

Jackson county Michigan here. Looks like we’re in the 18 inch range. Maybe more considering the fact that I’m in the southeastern corner of the county.

Minus eight degrees here in the People’s Republic. However, the good news is that it is supposed to warm up to three degrees, that is, about 45 degrees below normal.

Here in Indy we have about an inch of ice on the ground and more expected today—ice and snow. We’re braced and have broken out the jigsaw puzzles to help stave off cabin fever.

The idiot liberal in the cubical next to me confidently advised me yesterday that global warming was causing the heavy snows. She said that it was because of all of the glaciers melting.

Some jokes just write themselves.

It’s coming right at us, looks like we’ll be in the middle of it. The wind is howling.

Indiana and Illinois got a good shot yesterday too that missed us. Ain’t gonna be much fun there.

The Weather Channel is pretty much ignoring New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. and acting like only points east of St. Louis are in trouble.

Quick: Check where Algore is staying or speaking about “Globull Warming” and you'll know the place that will be buried by freezing cold and a matching blizzard. Funny how that works, Al. Do not mock God, Algore.

The original idea - that the earth would heat up - like a car with the windows rolled up - made some sense. But their new stuff - has no basis in fact whatsoever. Liberals have quit trying to even fake a scientific explanation... they just keep repeating the mantra...
