Article Tools EmailPrintSteelers Nation revving up Sunday, February 06, 2011 By Karen Kane, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette From the noisy streets of the Strip District to the contemplative sanctuaries of the region's churches and even within the boundaries of the animal kingdom, the Steelers Nation is revving up for the culmination of a winning season.
Pam of Pamela's P&G Diner in the Strip called it "crazy."
"We were mobbed the minute we opened the doors at 8,'' she said this morning. "Everybody is wearing their black and gold. People are already lining up at the bars. It's kinda scary!" she said over the din of the breakfast crowd fueling up for last minute purchases of Steeler garb and Super Bowl party food.
A couple of hours later, down a highly congested Penn Avenue at Mancini's Bread Co., a cashier said customers were about willing to battle for pepperoni rolls and sausage buns.

Harrison has 100,000 reasons to make Roquefort today. GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can you root for the sports finance arm of the Baraqqi regime?
I mean Rooney contributed so much they made him ambassador to Ireland.

HeH HeH.
“How can you root for the sports finance arm of the Baraqqi regime?

If I have to explain you wouldn’t understand anyway.
this sounds like Nancy Pelosi.
"We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it
Nan I thought you were a 49ers fan?
If Obozo is for them it is the kiss of death. That formula is 100% correct for any sports team since he started to mess things up in March of ‘09.
Sorry your team didn’t make it to big show.
Go Steelers.
Green Bay saved the country millions of dollars and unimaginable amounts of carbon emissions by President Obama, his wife, his dog and 50 car entourage, by beating Chicago. I gotta go for Green Bay just for that reason.
What I don’t understand is why wouldn’t Baraq want to be at the SB anyway - to hang with the Rooneys? This guy never misses a shot to be in the limelight?
Theres only one nation, Raider Nation
You guys can be the Steeler union
LOL! The chili is cooking away in the crock pot. It smells amazing. GO PACK GO!
Hmmm. Chili and what a great day for it!
It’s not that hard to understand. He donated about 30k to a committee that supported the Obama campaign and wrote a heartfelt letter to the Pittsburgh Tribune (April 14, 2008) in which he said how much the USA needs Senator Obama, cited his 20 years of public service, and how he inspired him (Rooney) with his “new ideas and fresh perspectives.”
Now he’s the U.S. Envoy to Ireland and doing what he can to advance the Administration’s agenda.
Considering the economy, the troubles in Egypt, the inconvenience to fans, his once again falling poll numbers and the weather- especially the fact Texas was trying to buy electricity from Mexico, might have deterred our great leader a bit- although he’s usually pretty deaf to that kinda stuff. If the Bears had made it, then Obama would have had a ready made excuse and he wouldn’t have taken too much heat for going.
the NCAA final four is in Houston this year
maybe Baraq will stop in for that
I think he’s more of a bballer anyway, LOL
Aren't they those guys that make bagels and hate the Jooos? :)
I don’t know. When things are going really bad, it’s not too smart for any sitting President to show up at any major sporting event outside of D.C. A regular season game is one thing, but has any sitting President ever attended a Super Bowl, World series, or NCAA championship game? Even if the country’s going great, it’s still a pain in the @ss to the fans going to the game.
There are Stiller bars from one end of the country to the other. I even know of a couple in Ontario. Several US airports have Black and Gold watering holes. I have never encountered a Raider, ahhh, den? anyplace.
Somethings are just forces of nature.
Not sure.
Bill Clinton and GHW Bush attended the Indy 500 together here back in 03 (both were obviously former POTUS with some level of security detail).
But Indy is so big that it wasn’t a noticeable change.
I’ve been to the Indy a few times, As a yout, I sat in the infield and drank and hoped the Hell’s Angels didn’t decide to camp near us. As an adult, I sat in the stands and watched safely from my seat as the infield fans demanded young ladies remove their tops. My most memorable 500 was when they honored Mr. Haney- Pat Buttram.
And their QB *isn’t* a rapist.
I find it odd, too.
I’m looking forward to a great game. Next to the Packers I like the Steelers.
Its not a measure of how many fans the team has. Its more like the Fort Worth Cowboys being “americas team”.
The Raider nation name has been around for some time and they earned that tag. It was given to them by the lamestream media.
You are welcome to call yourself the steeler nation but you deserve your very own “tag”, not one stolen from Al Davis.
Yeah, but they say Roethlisberger has matured lately- which means he hasn’t raped anyone in the last few weeks
Sorry...but John Facenda of NFL Films coined the term ‘Steeler Nation’ to describe the rabid, national fan base of the Black and Gold in 1975...Oakland Al started ‘marketing’ those ‘Black Hole’ sections in the 1980s. The rap songs came even later.
Great video! I played 18 holes at Laurel Valley two years ago with Rocky Blier.
I’ve been with the Steelers so long that even when we lost we felt we won by counting how many of the other team were carried off the field.
Then in 1969 we drafted Joe Green. The rest is Steeler history!
A true religion in the city of Pittsburgh. The 70’s were one heck of a lot of fun in that town.
Is he on the 12 step program?
Go Steelers!!
I doubt it
Packers are the winners in advance for being humane and helping homeless pets.
Rooting for the Packers and Number 13, Seven more than the Steelers!

Steelers owner endorses Obama
Not today my FRiend. It’s about the guys on the field.
Go play with yourself.
Oh you mean like these guys?

In the interest of preserving folks from riots and overturned cars, I think a Packers win may be more apropos. Thankfully Chicago is already out of the picture.
I hope The Claymaker reduces Big B. to jello.
In 1969 Art Rooney hired Charles Henry Noll and the rest was Steeler history. Mean Joe was one of Chuck Nolls first excellent draft choices.
That too!
