Believe it or not, this pic of Carol Burnett is flattering, compared to what I saw last week on some program where Shatner was interviewing her.....the plastique totally ruined her face.

At what age should they stop performing, and why should they have to stop if they want to perform and people still want to listen to them? And if they’re forced to stop performing, does that mean people should be forced to stop listening to their music? I’m not being totally facetious, just trying to follow your logic.

The first album with Grace Slick “Surrealistic Pillow” is still one of the greatest rock albums of all time. Everything that followed was mediocre or worse. The more political they got, the worse they got.

Actually, I think Debbie has aged quite gracefully. She was already in her 30's when Blondie hit the big time in the late 70's, and looked 10 years younger at that time. She has gracefully surrendered her youth, and it doesn't appear she's clung desperately to some silly botox/silicone/plastic image.

Debby and her music will be remembered long after the Lady GaGa's of this world have gone the way of the 33 1/3 LP.

Did I mention forcing anyone to do anything? (answer: no)

They SHOULD stop when they suck because of their age rather than just because they suck. There are plenty of bands that just suck in the first place and they should just stop.

I’m not trying to infringe upon their God-given rights of free speech. Bob Dylan is proof that some people should stop performing.

I liked Crown of Creation and After Bathing at Baxter’s as well. Volunteers was less than satisfying.

They should stop performing when nobody wants to see them. If people still want to see them, guess what, they get to perform. You’re going by the “I don’t like them, get them off the stage” paradigm. By my standards, ninety-eight percent of the people currently performing wouldn’t be allowed to perform because virtually everybody performing under the age of forty stinks. Makes about as much sense. And no, I’m not a fan of Bob Dylan.

She said that old rock stars should stop performing. In general, she's right.

IF we lived in a society that forced people to go to concerts you would have a point. But to make the assumption that everyone has 'Gracie's' taste or your taste is ridiculous ...

Do you apply the same 'standards' to writers? Painters? Do you want to see pictures of the people who write books to decided if they're sexy enough to read? Seems you've found a new definition of 'shallow'...

For me I'd rather go to a Leonard Cohen concert than watch any 10 bands composed of 20 year olds.

Depends on whose taste doesn’t it? My taste might be 180 degrees from yours. But the whole debate is pointless. If people don’t buy cds or go to concerts, the performers in question will not be able to perform. What we are debating is simply the wish that certain performers stop performing. In my case, that would mean more than ninety percent of todays performers should stop. The thoroughly decrepit Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan are still universes ahead of pathetic garbage like The Black Eyed Peas and Eminem.

First: Gracie said it
Second: She said should, not must
Third: I made no such assumption. I simply pointed out what Gracie Slick said in an interview.

Do you apply the same 'standards' to writers? Painters? Do you want to see pictures of the people who write books to decided if they're sexy enough to read? Seems you've found a new definition of 'shallow'...

First: I didn't apply the standards, Gracie did
Second: You should work on your reading comprehension before calling others shallow
