Billy Ray Cyrus Scared For Daughter Miley
Fox News ^ | February 15, 2011

Country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus blames Disney's "Hannah Montana" for his daughter Miley Cyrus' issues, angrily saying "the damn show destroyed my family," the New York Post reported Tuesday.

Blaming publicists and Miley's handlers, Cyrus gives an anguished interview in GQ's March issue, where he adds he wishes "Hannah Montana" never happened.

"I hate to say it, but yes, I do. I'd take it back in a second," said Cyrus, who is divorcing Miley's mother, Tish.

Reflecting on Miley's controversial moments -- including seductive photos on the internet, pole-dancing at the Teen Choice Awards, and posing for Vanity Fair draped in a sheet -- Cyrus said he should have been stricter, and accuses her handlers of going too far to promote her, and then using him as the fall guy.

He tells GQ: "Every time the train went off the track ... her people, or as they say in today's news, her handlers, every time they'd put [the blame on] me ... I took it because I'm her daddy ... OK, nail me to the cross.

*sigh* a short fifty years ago it was the rule, not the exception, to raise productive citizens with faith and morals. My youngest is right; he said his generation is proof of de-volution.

thanks for your kind words, and stand strong! I didn’t mention the last part of the verse I quoted above and have clung to with both hands and both feet since beginning the journey- “Train up your child in the way he should go-and when he is OLD he will not depart from it” There were some times in the middle I thought I would never see them reach the next birthday, much less adulthood LOL.

.

I agree she and her mother were in charge. Don’t you know fathers are only a part of the family to take the blame. In my day my daughter would not have been turned into a slut no matter what my husband said.
I know Billy has made lots of mistakes but he still has
a mother ‘legally’ for his daughter...

I taught my sons to not even drive alone with a young girl in the car.

The downward spiral began with “Achy Breaky Heart,” you mullet-wearing idiot.

So You can be certain your sons listen to you? I raised sons and I can not say they listen to all my advice. LOL
I can not say they did not listen either. I could not always stay with them they became 16 and a car was there so only God knows.

Sounds like Billy Ray is having an Achy Breaky Heart moment.

Shouldn’t have let the handlers take control of your kid.

She was from a Christian family, they had great moral values. “ __________________________________________

I agree with you to the crossed T and dotted i.

However, you and I have seen the frog boiling so much longer than the kids or grandkids. Modern parents are getting it in a much more compressed time frame, with Miley as a distinct example. Now, maybe, they will recognize that Hollywood has nothing healthy for their kids to see. Nothing.

On the scale of today’s scandalous “kid shows”, parents thought Miley was (in the beginning) a milder version of scandal, though oldsters recognized that from the get go, Miley was suggestive and shallow. Neither today’s parents nor their kids have any use for Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.

First off, it wasn’t Disney’s fault at all. She was the star of a TV WITH her father on the show also. No where in the show did it promote “be a slut”.

If there were issues BEFORE she became an adult, he SHOULD have stepped in then. Even well-raised children can do wrong things and it is not always the parents fault, but since he was there on the set everyday, he could see what was going on.

He approved of her getting a tattoo before she became an adult and he approved of many of the things that is is now complaining about. Look it up in his past interviews.

His trying to pass the buck on Disney is par for the course, but Disney is NOT the one at blame here. And I am not a big fan of Disney either.

I am jumping on him cause instead of admitting his own fault, he is blaming Disney. He was there on the show with her. Its not Disney’s fault.

He is saying he regrets what he has done, and want to change things.” ______________________________________

Note the self serving timeline he uses to address his profound “regret”. Miley turns 18. His ride on her dime now ends. He is a disaster trying to now redeem his credibility as a father, and resurrect his diminishing career. It’s all he has since blowing up his family.

Billy Ray Cyrus is not a Democrat or a liberal. He openly supported the Republican nominee for president in 2008, Senator John McCain, and a number of his songs were supplied by his record label for use by the Senator’s campaign as well as for the use of the Republican National Committee.

Billy Ray Cyrus also performed at conservative radio and talk show host, Sean Hannity’s Freedom Concerts. Billy Ray Cyrus has also been a guest on Sean Hannity’s radio and talk show.

Bill Ray Cyrus’s father, Ron, was a democrat in the Kentucky House of Representatives for two decades before he died in 2006.

...condescending, self-important and arrogant ...

Add a laugh track and you have just described the behavior of every kid on every non-cartoon show on Disney.

Cyrus’ conservatism is marginal at best, if public behavior (thinking photo here) counts for anything. This is not a case of an earnestly conservative, modest living parent whose child just blows up against the odds. Miley was dumped over in exchange for cash and fame.

Repentance and forgiveness are just, but the consequences are still quite certain, sometimes lasting, sometimes tragic.

In this I know they do. We are an exceptionally close family, and we homeschooled and our friends are mostly mutual. Their father died young and they grew up fast.

I’m sure there have been instances where they don’t listen, but we always were a family of “sitters and talkers”.

They are strong conservatives, strong Christians and hard workers. My oldest has held a job since he was 12.

But the real giveaway is to see them lecturing their friends on the things we’ve discussed over the years. I tend to, instead of laying down rules on such things, spend time going over the reasons why certain things are wise, and certain things not. And when they watch people they know fall into traps on these things, that’s the strongest lesson of all.

“I agree, he seems to be taking a stand”

What planet do u live on?

She was a MINOR until recently.
