What a lowlife. There is good natured ribbing, like playing "Son of a Preacher Man" for Cam at the Iron Bowl, but this was totally uncalled for.

There’s nothing good natured about the Alabama-Auburn rivalry. They hate each other, and that’s no exaggeration.

Trace his number.
Prosecute him to the fullest possible extent of the law.
Laff in his face and call him STOOPID.............
And I’m a Gators fan.......................

The trees in question - often draped in copious amounts of toilet paper (it's what they do down there).
Dunno if they can dig out the soil or flood the area to dilute the poisons, but landmarks like these can't be replaced.

Maybe he should have shot a few people. That would have made a bigger impact.
What a moron. I hope his house doesn’t burn down.

Rumor is they have an arrest and will hold a press conference shortly.
To: balch3
"The weekend after the Iron Bowl, I went to Auburn, Ala., because I live 30 miles away, and I poisoned the Toomer's trees," No, you went and poisoned the trees because you are a stupid juvenile moron who can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy. Grown men don't do things like this. Juveniles do...............

but landmarks like these can't be replaced. Sure they can. It just takes a couple hundred years, that's all.

They’ll put another tree there. You can transplant large trees.

As an Alabama alumnus and a long-time Crimson Tide fan, let me just say this: This is one of the most despicable acts that didn’t involve actual physical harm to a human being (as far as I know) that I have ever heard of.
If this cretin is ever discovered, not only should he serve the maximun sentence the law allows, he should be banned for life from the Alabama campus and all Alabama sporting events.
We don’t want him on our side.

Same tree over 100 years ago.
To: where's_the_Outrage?
Cut down the dead trees, have them cut up into lumber and then make a large wooden gazebo from it to put in the location of the trees for Auburn fans to gather around and celebrate future victories.

Arrest made:
WTVM-TV in Columbus, GA, said Harvey Almorn Updyke, 62, of Dadeville, had been charged with Criminal Mischief. WTVM-TV attributed the news of the arrest to a source at the Lee County Justice Center.

When I heard it this morning (In Madison AL) I was thinking if I was an Alabama Alumni I would be totally outraged and work with other AL Alumnus to replace those trees.

Good.
I don’t know if he’s the guy, or not, but if he is he should be in p rison till he’s an old, old man.
