Maybe it's time for the Unions to have restrictions on what they can and can't do. When a Union's desires trump taxpayers, lawmakers and legislation, it's time to take a hard look at them. And do we really think it's a good idea for the President of the United States to weigh in on the Unions' side of this? No. If anything, that office should be standing up for legislators who are taking THEIR job and our county's DEBT seriously.

IS there such a thing as firing a Senator without waiting for the next election cycle?

Wisconsin has a recall proceedure:

“Laws governing recall in Wisconsin”

http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Laws_governing_recall_in_Wisconsin

It requires a petition with signatures containing 25% of the number who voted in the last election.

What I read indicated it was a fairly short process if the required signatures were collected. It applies to all elective officers after the first year of the term for which the incumbent was elected. So they could not be removed until the end of the first year of their term.

Thanks for the great info you two. I would be so mad as a taxpayer and voter, it wouldn’t matter what party they were from..they would have to go!

Population of Wisconsin is around 5,655,000 people...The Teachers Union has around 98,000 members..Close to 2% of the population....

Why should 98% of the population pay for the 2%’s pension and health benefits and also pay for their own????
