They're suing because she says "would you hold it against me"? Is no one supposed to ever use that phrase in songs again?

Stupid lawsuit.

“I think Groucho Marx used that line in one of his movies, long before the Bellamy Brothers hit song.”

Yes, and that double entendre has been used by many other comedians.

“...ripping off’ the rock ballad ...”

The Bellamy Bros. wrote/preformed a “rock ballad?” LOL.

It is a stupid lawsuit. I just listened to both songs (I hope to recover by next week) and there is clearly no relationship between the songs. One phrase is just not worth suing over. Maybe the Bellamy Bros are hard up for cash.

Does seem somewhat desperate, doesn't it?

Sound nothing alike! (Forced myself to listen..ugh!)

What is “radio”?

It's that thing in my car with Rush Limbaugh's and Mark Levin's shows coming out if it.

Remember “Bittersweet Symphony”....

from wicki-
Although the song’s lyrics were written by Verve vocalist Richard Ashcroft, it has been credited to Keith Richards and Mick Jagger after charges by the original copyright owners that the song was plagiarized from the Andrew Oldham Orchestra recording of The Rolling Stones’ 1965 song “The Last Time.”

Originally, The Verve had negotiated a licence to use a sample from the Oldham recording, but it was successfully argued that the Verve had used “too much” of the sample.[5] Despite having original lyrics, the music of “Bittersweet Symphony” is partially based on the Oldham track, which led to a lawsuit with ABKCO Records, Allen Klein’s company that owns the rights to the Rolling Stones material of the 1960s. The matter was eventually settled, with copyright of the song reverting to ABKCO and songwriting credits to Jagger and Richards.
