Actually, the Oscars were derided by the 1960s counterculture and defended by people like John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart as an American insitution. Lots of Freepers enjoy them. Yet on every Oscar thread every year the killjoys show up without fail. Boredom I’m guessing.

Don’t really have a genre. Whatever’s good.

another good thing is they had to actually act

no help from the cinematography or costumes or momentum

Tomas.,

One can enjoy the Oscars.

and still get irritated by the lib preening...Sasheen Littlefeather remember and so forth

and know that yes Hollywood is still overwhelmingly libtarded X10

few creative folks who aren't liberals I've known in my life..a few writers here and there and Ted Nugent

Oscar hated Wayne ...they considered him a crazy right winger..they just gave him True Grit because he was such an icon...the critics and media ridiculed his Oscar..claimed he just played himself

I was only 13 but remember thinking hell...isn't that what all great scene possessors do

anyhow I'm glad Dolly ran this thread ..I actually will watch more than usual this year...True Grit and Bones got my attention...neither was lib loaded or PC...thankfully...maybe one day they will learn out there

but you do have a point...the Hippie-Yippie left in 60s and early 70s thought Oscar was establishment...Easy Rider did not have many fans for example and much of the youth culture was scorned by the Old Guard..as well it deserved it

PS...sometimes freepers just like to be assjack..they can't help it..too many here don't even like babies really...just sour folks...go to any tragedy thread and invariably there will be glee about how stupid the folks who died or were harmed were....it's just a snarky nasty side to some here

Ignore them or tell them to go to Hell

We have seen the following:

The King’s Speech-Excellent. Best Picture, Actor and Supporting Actor.

The Social Network-Very good, not on a par with the one above though.

True Grit-Very good. Best Supporting Actress.

The Black Swan-Didn’t care for it at all.

It’s definitely going to be a good night for The King’s Speech (Best Pic, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, at least), but True Grit was more enjoyable to watch, at least for me. And I just saw The Social Network last night, and the kid did a terrific job playing Zuckerberg. Aaron Sorkin, while a liberal dbag, writes dialog better than anyone out there and he should win for adapted screenplay.

I try to be polite to everyone. Wayne didn;t win till later but was an Oscar fixture for years. He was on the ceremony months before he died.

The only thing good about Black Swan is that might encourage people to check out The Red Shoes.

And you are just a bowl of cherries - lol!

“assjack”
“don't even like babies “ (not even sure what this means)
“sour folks”
“glee about how stupid the folks who died”
“snarky nasty side to some here”
“tell them to go to Hell”

Btw, is it really a “P.S.” when you allow your Hatred to run rampant like that?

Seems like more than just a p.s.

Maybe pms?

From now on do a pms.

You had to go out of your way to make a big stink about the funny comment I made.

I just don’t accept that looking back at 84 years of history makes this year’s Oscars any more Conservative.

I didn’t make a big stink. Just pondering why people can’t enjoy these things for what they are. A celebration of the American film industry. Only four of the awards go to actors.

I’ve only seen The King’s Speech, so I hope it wins! :) Looking forward to the red carpet fashion.

I think I am beginning to understand how delicate some people are when they get emotionally attached to the movie industry.

We can critic movies but don't you dare criticize the Leftist movie industry. Uh-huh.
