Battle of St. Mihiel France.

Maybe six months ago I read an article that said Mr.Buckles was being considered for a high national honor. Maybe the Medal of Freedom, I’m not sure exactly which one.
Anyway, a federal government spokesman said the award was under consideration. But nothing was done. Fools! Now it is too late. What do they care?
May God be with Mr. Buckles.
What did he die of?
Can’t believe Grandpa would be 116 next week!
He did make it to 95 though.
His uniform sits on the upper shelf in this home office.
Did ya know the Army had an Aero-maintence squadron in WWI?
Probably old age.
Like my Gramps, just wore out, no specific cause cited.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
May he RIP.
Like your selfless relatives, so many fine people served this country. And so many made the ultimate sacrifice.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
God bless his soul.
RIP, Mr. Buckles.
My father was a WWI Navy vet. Were he alive today, he would be 114.
My Grandma’s cousin, Mary Marguerite, was a Nurse who served in France during WWI; she died of influenza in 1918. Funny to think how very long they have been gone when you read about this Gentleman’s passing; my Grandpa who died a couple of years ago at 99 was the only one left who had a vague memory of her.
Old age.
It happens.
Aero-maintence squadron in WWI?
Yes they did.
JJ
My great-grandmother’s brother was also in the war, survived it but died of the Spanish Flu. It was almost worse than the war itself.

My great uncle:
Ted Salvidge

The Battle of Vimy Ridge, France

Wow. The things he must have seen and the history he must have lived...
I can only imagine. and God and the Angels welcome home, Mr. Frank Buckles. Well Done! Mr. Frank Buckles your buddies are right here. Let the celebration begin!
