We keep hearing that young men are failing to adapt to contemporary life. Their financial prospects are impaired—earnings for 25- to 34-year-old men have fallen by 20 percent since 1971. Their college enrollment numbers trail women's: Only 43 percent of American undergraduates today are men. Last year, women made up the majority of the work force for the first time. And yet there is one area in which men are very much in charge: premarital heterosexual relationships.

What many young men wish for—access to sex without too many complications or commitments—carries the day. If women were more fully in charge of how their relationships transpired, we'd be seeing, on average, more impressive wooing efforts, longer relationships, fewer premarital sexual partners, shorter cohabitations, and more marrying going on.

Times have changed. It is women who are the sexual predators nowdays. Young girls revel in their sexual conquests. sex is power to them. They have no desire to marry. They have no attachments to those they bed. Men are but useful objects to be molded and manipulated.

Obama has also failed the minority communities especially blacks.
Obama has done nothing to create jobs for these sectors of American society.

It was no different when I was in high school and college in the late 70’s early 80’s.
Cheap women are like cheap beer, and I’ve never had a taste for either.
Don’t worry folks, there are a large number of young men who strongly desire to marry and have large families. They never have to worry about their wives leaving them, and they will have no problem in reorienting this culture to follow their lead, so that their values will be the values of this country.

This common line displays a deprecatory perception of men.
Why? Because men (very reasonably) say, "Why should I pay for her choices?" There's a logic there that's unanswerable.
There is no practical incentive to marry for men. It’s a stacked deck. Feminist harangue comes from all quarters, it’s even standard fare on FR of all places. For all but the religiously devout, there is no reason to close the deal at all. The penalties are not worse outside of marriage, they’re worse within, legally and monetarily.
Would you hitch your wagon to a competitive scold who would take half of everything you have and then some, who could more or less enslave you to pay for their support after taking off for any reason at all better than half the time, and who has an increasing propensity to ruin your reputation out of sheer spite by fictionalizing child sexual abuse charges in order to gain sole custody of any children?

I guess that “horizontal” study of adolescents is in line with Zero’s belief that 26 year olds are adolescents not adults.

I have been married for thirty years, same wonderful women and have many friends in their mid thirties who basically are completely used and manipulated by their girlfriends. My sons are all in their mid to late twenties and it astounds me how they let their girlfriends run their lives or are cut off.

I think that’s true of every human being about every other human being.
All the virtues are connected. Get rid of one, all the others trail after it, like knots on a rope.
Sexual immorality destroys character. And conversely, valuing and honoring even one virtue often helps one develop the other virtues. When people are educated about virtues, what they are, and why they are vital to human life. When people are educated and raised to be feral humanimals, then it is almost impossible for them to change, short of religious conversion.

I don’t think that this is exactly an honest evaluation of what is going on. Specifically this makes it sound like every guy out there is getting his rocks off with any woman he chooses. In reality women still do control the door to heavens gate and don’t just let any tom, dick or harry through that gate.
Women have a strong desire to get the best man available and towards that end they are all going after the same top 10-20% of men. This means that the top 20% of guys are screwing their brains out with young nubile women while the other 80% are either going it solo (lots of video games and internet porn) or settling for the dogs the top 20% won’t even touch with a ten inch pole or the aging cougars that have spent their youth sluting it up with the top dogs and are now looking for some poor hard up schlep to take care of her, her children from another relationship and whatever STDs she might have picked up along the way.
Great deal if your in the top 20% sucks for the rest of them but this is the world that women have created. Thank God for all the social safety nets and outrageous child support payments that make all of this possible, otherwise there might be a return to some semblance of sanity.

On a related subject, on this news day of oil closing at $100, Beranke using his amazing prognostic talents to inform us that there may be temporary inflation (but don’t worry,he’ll monitor it for us), the Mideast flaming up and the continuing Wisconsin showdown, NBC lead with the WH releasing a report on pay inequality for women. Clearly, this is the pressing problem of our time.**
If there was ever such a blatant case of diversion, I’d like an example. I wonder if this Slate story and the WH press release was orchestrated.
The good news is NBC can’t paste WH press releases over the gas pump signs and store prices.
** You may wonder why I watch this ****. Well, I didn’t watch the entire thing, I was too angry. But it is important to know your enemy.

Those were my dear mother’s words. She was very wise and I grew up with her wisdom.
These boys should research the youth-bulge theory. Although they have it great with the easy sex, the chinese and Muslim men are far less fortunate, so if the youth-bulge theory is right, American males may end up paying for it with their lives in war.
It’s worse than merely destroying character. It causes a person to disconnect from others. It devalues humanity. But there are worse evils in modern society that do a better job of that.

There are a lot of available women around who are freely giving of their sexual favors -- but only to certain set of men who I'll refer to as the Alpha Males, the guys who women compete for. The "Mr Big" type from Sex and the City. Prince Charming.
For somebody in this set of males, it's a target-rich environment. You sleep with a woman until she starts bothering you about "commitment", and then you move on to a younger/hotter/tighter replacement. Women complain about this type as being "afraid of commitment", but the reality is that the guy has no need to commit to one women because he is a sought-after commodity (at least until he turns 40 or so)
Eventually a woman who's been chasing Prince Charming after Prince Charming gets tired of the "pump-n-dump" routine, generally as she approaches 30 and senses her market value starting to precipitously decline, and decides to settle for Mr Average.

American women now offer only sexual relations in exchange for a marriage contract. They will not cook, clean, sew, raise children, manage the house, or make life comfortable for the head-of-the-household, the husband. They are not interested in being good wives, just in receiving the benefits of such.
American men understand that American women no longer bring anything to marriage other than an offer of sex. They further have learned that this offer is bogus and will be repudiated shortly after the marriage contract has been executed. Plus young American men are readily able to obtain sexual gratification from young American woman, single and married, who are embracing the slut lifestyle.
So young American men increasingly view the institution of marriage as having no benefits and the huge liability of a better than 50% chance of divorce, in which case they will be the financial loser.
Given the above situation, is it any wonder that young American men now routinely avoid marriage?! It is a simple cost/benefit analysis which young American men are learning well.
