ARLINGTON - Police are searching for a suspect or suspects after a 29-year-old pastor was found dead and his 67-year-old ministry assistant critically injured inside the NorthPointe Baptist Church in the 2200 block of Brown Boulevard in Arlington.
Arlington officers found Pastor Clint Dobson dead and Judy Elliott severely beaten after receiving a call at about 4:15 p.m. Thursday. The caller had gone to the church after becoming concerned that no one could be reached. After looking into the window and seeing a motionless body on the floor, the person called the police.
Elliott was transferred to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and she remains in critical condition.

People in churches are very vulnerable. Many Catholic priests in isolated rectories have been killed over the years just answering the door to some “needy” person, very often somebody who has been hanging around the church, maybe gotten a few handouts, but never seemed really dangerous.
I would suspect this was the same thing. It was probably somebody who the minister and the secretary were used to seeing and therefore they weren’t very vigilant. Or perhaps he was accompanied by somebody they knew.
There doesn’t seem to be any evidence that there was more than one attacker, but it’s remarkable that one person could manage to do away with two people with his bare hands. It’s a terrible story, in any case; prayers for them and their families.
Thank you for your post.
Yes, prayers for both victims.
On their website, they mention that they will be holding a service, and that extra security will be provided for the service.
I’m not sure about Baptist doctrines, but typically a homicide, when committed in a church, requires a reconsecration of the church, sanctuary, altar, and its grounds.
No info yet, will post as soon as I hear more!!!
