Word For The Day, Friday, 3/18/11



In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

perspicacity; noun

keenness of mental perception and understanding; discernment; penetration. 2. Archaic . keen vision.

Etymology: 1540–50; earlier perspicacite < Late Latin perspicācitās sharpness of sight, equivalent to perspicāci- (stem of perspicāx sharp-sighted; see perspicuous) + -tās -ty2 Synonyms 1. shrewdness, acuity, astuteness, insight, acumen. See perspicuity.

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

the liberal media have ignored JFK's tax-cutting and anti-Communist tendencies and focused instead on his more noble attributes; chief among them, his family's deep religious convictions.

need I remind them that at the time JFK was banging his list of hotties with his bad back and all he was SINNING! gag me.....he had NO deeply held religious beliefs that he wouldn't compromise for a quickie.

No, I saw that it was sarcasm on the article’s part.....just assumed the producers portrayed him as religious, as he suggested...which had me spouting off in an nanosecond. Probably best if I don’t watch it.

Unretired & anxiously awaiting 4:30pm.

Grandchild #1 (Hadley) was 3 on March 4, her cousin (Carter) will be 2 on March 30. Hadley’s sister Audrey will be 2 on October 26. And Carter’s little bro/sis (we find out hopefully next Wed) is due on Aug 29. Bunch of tricycle motors.

deep as a puddle, but not as deep as a NY pothole.....yikes, you can wreck your car out there.......64° in NY today......kids were in shorts and t-shirts....amazing day.
