BILLINGS, Mont. -- Facing mounting pressure from Congress, wildlife advocates and the U.S. Department of Interior on Friday reached an agreement to lift gray wolf protections in Montana and Idaho and allow hunting of the predators to resume.
The settlement agreement - opposed by some environmentalists - is intended to resolve years of litigation that have shielded wolves in the Northern Rockies from hunting, even as the predator's population has sharply expanded.

I don't believe it's in the bag that Judge Molloy will go along though.
Molloy's support is crucial because he must agree to put a stay on an order he issued last summer that reinstated wolf protections in Idaho and Montana.
There’s something else going on. The reintroduction of wolves is all about gun control. They want to take away hunting so that there’s no need for guns. “Target shooting - buy darts”. “Self protection - just hire more police.” “Control the population of deer and elk - wolves”. Those pesky guns keep getting in the way of mandating liberal control.
There’s no doubt eviro nazis and animal rights nuts want to stop all hunting and take away guns but they’re whistling in the wind if they think they’ll get anywhere with it.
The 2,000 [ imported Canadian ] wolves will remain on the endangered list.
Not all of the eco-terrorists have agreed to the settlement nor did Molloy
