The Fat Kid Video And The Time My Mom Punched Mrs. K in the Face
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Jeff Dunetz

The video below is one of those internet movies that become viral. It shows a fat kid (in Australia) being bullied, punched a few times till he finally decides to fight back. Like most of these viral videos, the viewer can figure out what led to this point in the story. It is obvious that this wasn’t the first time the “fat kid” in this video was bullied; it was simply the first time he stood up to the bully.

WATCH THE (pretty awesome) VIDEO

This video touched me greatly because, well when I was growing up, I was that fat kid. And this video reminded me of the first time I stood up to a bully, I didn’t get suspended from school like the “fat kid in the video,” but it did lead to my Mom (of blessed memory) punching the bully’s mom in the face.

BOR is right. Clearly, the big fellow could have seriously injured or perhaps even killed the little bully, but that’s part of growing up. Some lessons, dangerous though they may be, need to be learned in youth. Having lived through this one, that kid now stands a better chance of surviving adulthood.

“I still don’t understand how a bigger kid could be bullied by a smaller kid physically.”

The smaller kid had a couple of friends with him, at least one of which was bigger.

The kid was bigger, no doubt, but my understanding was that the group had been bullying him for a long time.

The bigger kid reminds me of the kid in the Bad Santa movie. Big and afraid until he was pushed too far.

The first time I watched the video I thought the little kid was fighting back for something that occurred before the filming started and the bigger kid was the bully.

I thought the body language of the smaller kid was that of a smart-ass trying to prove something. The bigger kid gave him plenty of chances to avoid it -- it isn't like he retaliated after the first punch, or even the second one.

It looks to me like the little sh*t learned a valuable lesson, and I hope that the bigger kid, whose body language to me indicates that he was fully aware that he could cream, pulverize the little yapper the same way a St. Bernard could obliterate a chihuahua, but was inclined not to because of the unfair differences in size. The little sh*t, it looks to me, was taking advantage of the bigger kid's good nature and miscalculated.

When I was a kid I managed to be on both sides of the subject, more than once.
Lost more'n I won, won the ones that went on the longest (repeats)...

I'm totally for the big kid and remember a time when a guy named Melovic could have smeared me against five unadorned lug nuts and his biker boots - but stopped and walked away...
Size does call for restraint, but nobody needs to put up with having some punk entertain his friends by harassing an easy target.

And the target's response was a beautiful thing to see.

On that note, I'll bet the "friends" encouragement had more to do with the punk's actions than did anything else...I'd bet on a set up of both parties.

Cheers to the big kid for defending himself. It’s too bad he was punished for standing up for himself....

“I have no sympathy for the little kid. I just hope he’s able to learn a lesson from this”

Ditto. As a former college professor I am convinced that experiential learning is the best form of learning. That kid has now learned not to let your mouth write a check your butt can’t cash.

Does anybody know if the big kid has been approached yet by the WWF? LOL!!!

As long as the professional victims don’t get hold of his mind and twist the lesson into a belief that he’s the one who was wronged... he has a chance. There’s far too many today who don’t take responsibility for learning life’s lessons when they’re ripe for the learning, no matter how many times it hits them in the head. Experience is the thing that enables you to recognize a mistake before you make it again.

I would hope he refrains from that behavior in the future just because it’s wrong to intentionally hurt others... but even if it’s just to avoid being at the losing end of a pile driver... so be it. :)

BOR was upset that the "fat kid" could have seriously hurt the bully and the "fat kid" should have thought twice before body slamming the bully.

Well, yeah, Billy Boy was just looking out for the best interests of his own people -- bullies. This is the same jerk who has, throughout the length of his career, tried to intimidate people with the suggestion of potential physical violence. He LOVES to refer to his height when he is losing an argument.
